## Description

_Every day, we work together for what matters – bold, swift, and equitable climate action._

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

At 3Degrees, we are committed to advancing a decarbonized future through bold, swift, and equitable climate action. We do this work by originating, marketing, selling, and trading environmental commodities. As a member of our Research and Analysis team within the Environmental Markets (EM) division, you’ll apply your analytical and strategic expertise to conduct portfolio analysis, develop reporting tools and processes used by multiple stakeholders, and enhance our informational capabilities.

As a Trading Portfolio Analyst, you'll play a critical role in shaping our approach to the environmental commodities market while driving real-world impact. You will apply strong quantitative and communication skills to the analysis of our portfolios, positions, and commodity pricing in order  to deliver insights that sharpen our trading edge. Your responsibilities will include developing internal reporting and reconciliation tools, as well as translating complex datasets into actionable insights for both portfolio managers and non-technical stakeholders. In a word, you will help shape what we know and how we know it. Your expertise will go beyond supporting the trading desk. You’ll challenge conventional thinking, identify strategic gaps, and introduce innovative solutions to improve cross-functional performance.

This is a full-time opportunity within the 3Degrees Environmental Markets division, based in Portland, ME. Exceptional candidates within commuting distance to our office hubs in San Francisco, CA; Portland, Oregon; or New York, NY will also be considered.

- Reporting & Portfolio Valuation & Reconciliation

- Manage, execute, and deliver weekly portfolio valuation reports and performance updates for key front-office stakeholders, portfolio managers, and executive leadership
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and support critical downstream Excel workbooks used by Trading Associates and Portfolio Managers to track positions and market values
- Design, maintain, and execute financial reconciliations (e.g., trial balances, valuation stacks, exchange-to-system position matching) to ensure accurate reporting across tools
- Act as a responsive communication bridge between non-technical stakeholders, traders, and risk management to explain valuation movements and resolve data questions

- Process Optimization & AI Automation

- Audit existing workflows to identify manual steps, streamline processes, and eliminate redundant clicks across workbooks
- Identify, pilot, and deploy low-code AI interventions and agentic tools (e.g., Copilot Studio, Glean, RPA) to automate routine tasks like report generation and distribution
- Utilize Python and modern data platforms (such as Power BI, Databricks, or Microsoft Fabric) to transition manual reports into scalable, automated solutions

- Portfolio Analysis & Quantitative Modeling

- Support the development and refinement of proprietary models using Python, Excel, and Power BI to analyze portfolio positioning and performance
- Translate complex quantitative outputs and datasets into clear, actionable reports for trading decision-makers
- Bandwidth permitting, partner with internal teams to analyze risks and opportunities  across North American REC and clean fuel markets (e.g., LCFS, CCA)
