# Grants and Programmes internship scheme 2026/27

> Academy of Medical Sciences · London, United Kingdom (Hybrid) · Other · Posted 2026-06-04

**Workplace:** hybrid

**Department:** Research Talent Policy and Programmes

## Description

We are welcoming applications for our Grants and Programmes internships, with placements from January 2027. The scheme is open to all PhD students (based in a UK university or institute) with funding for a three-month placement that is integral to their programme.

Our Grants and Programmes internships are designed to provide future researchers and leaders with a deeper understanding of the UK and international grant review process and career development support programmes, gaining a valuable insight into the wider funding landscape at a critical and exciting time. The intern will be embedded within the Academy’s Research Talent Policy and Programmes department and, as an early career researcher, will provide valuable perspective in the development of our schemes and programmes.

In additional to developing valuable transferable skills, interns will gain insights into all aspects of the Academy’s work and experience working in a non-research focussed organisation, including learning about the management of research funding, organising events, science communications and research policy. They will also develop a wider network of contacts, including the Academy’s Fellowship and stakeholders. You can read more about what our previous Grants and Programmes interns have worked on and gone on to do in our [case study booklet](https://acmedsci.ac.uk/file-download/52495936).

**Applications are welcomed for three month internships taking place from January to December 2027.**
