We are recruiting on behalf of one of our partner practices, a high-end, luxury plastic surgery practice based in Maryland. Belcara Health is seeking an experienced, motivated **Registered Nurse (RN)** to join our Plastic Surgery team. This is a unique combined **clinic, operating room, and PACU position**, allowing the RN to participate in the full surgical patient journey—from pre-operative preparation and patient education through surgery, recovery, and post-operative care. This is an on-site position in Baltimore, Maryland. **Position Overview** The Registered Nurse will divide responsibilities between our **Plastic Surgery Clinic and on-site Surgery Center**, including responsibilities in the Operating Room and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The ideal candidate is adaptable, organized, clinically strong, and comfortable transitioning between outpatient patient care and perioperative responsibilities based on the needs of the practice. **Plastic Surgery Clinic Responsibilities** - Room patients for plastic surgery and post-operative appointments - Obtain and document patient histories, medications, allergies, vital signs, and Review of Systems - Prepare patients for provider examinations and treatments - Assist plastic surgeons with in-office procedures and treatments - Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient education - Review surgical instructions and help ensure patients are appropriately prepared for surgery - Perform post-operative assessments, dressing changes, and wound care as directed - Respond to clinical patient questions and escalate concerns to the appropriate provider - Assist with patient phone calls, portal messages, prescriptions, and clinical documentation - Help manage patient flow and communicate delays or changes to patients and team members - Maintain appropriate clinical supplies and treatment rooms **Operating Room Responsibilities** - Prepare the operating room for scheduled plastic surgery procedures - Assist with pre-operative patient preparation and surgical safety processes - Serve as a **circulating RN** during surgical procedures - Maintain sterile technique and ensure adherence to infection-control and patient-safety standards - Complete required intraoperative documentation - Assist the surgical and anesthesia teams throughout procedures - Participate in surgical counts, specimen handling, medication documentation, and other OR processes - Support patient transition throughout the perioperative experience - Assist with room turnover, supply management, and preparation for subsequent procedures - Follow all surgery center policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements **PACU & Recovery Responsibilities** - Provide direct nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures - Receive patients from the Operating Room and complete appropriate post-anesthesia assessments - Continuously monitor vital signs, airway status, oxygenation, level of consciousness, pain, nausea, and overall recovery - Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly communicate concerns to the surgeon and anesthesia provider - Administer medications and treatments according to provider orders and established protocols - Manage post-operative pain, nausea, and other common recovery needs - Monitor surgical sites, dressings, drains, and other post-operative needs - Maintain accurate and timely PACU documentation - Ensure patients meet established discharge criteria prior to discharge - Review post-operative instructions, medications, restrictions, and warning signs with patients and their responsible caregivers - Ensure patients and caregivers understand follow-up instructions and when to contact the surgical team - Facilitate a safe and comfortable discharge from the surgery center - Maintain PACU readiness, supplies, equipment, and emergency preparedness - Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team to provide safe continuity of care ## Requirements - Current and unrestricted **Registered Nurse license in Maryland** - BLS certification required - ACLS certification preferred or ability to obtain - Previous operating room, perioperative, PACU, or surgical nursing experience strongly preferred - Plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, ambulatory surgery center, or outpatient surgical experience is a plus - Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills - Excellent communication and patient-service skills - Ability to work effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, medical assistants, and administrative team members - Comfortable working across the clinic, OR, and PACU environments - Highly organized with strong attention to detail - Dependable, flexible, and willing to assist wherever needed to support the team and our patients ## Benefits **Why Join Belcara Health?** At Belcara Health, our patients experience highly personalized care throughout their entire surgical journey.
