### About Adzuna

Adzuna is a job search engine that lists every job, everywhere. From our launch in the UK in 2011, we now have tens of millions of visitors a month and are busy conquering the world from our HQ in West London alongside our remote teams - helping millions of people find better, more fulfilling jobs. We already have a suite of AI-powered tools (such as ValueMyCV, Prepper and ApplyIQ) built by our talented team and their passion for building new AI-powered tech for job seekers. We're a commercially minded team that moves fast, takes ownership and loves what we do.

### About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially-minded, high-impact Infrastructure Engineer to join our fast-moving team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for architecting and managing our containerized environments, focusing on Kubernetes orchestration and cloud infrastructure. You will work closely with our engineering teams to ensure scalable, reliable, and secure deployment pipelines, driving the transition towards a modern, container-first infrastructure.

We're building a container-first platform on AWS EKS, and we're still running an older estate on EC2 instances (Perl services and Chef-managed machine images). Both are managed with Terraform. Expect roughly one third of your time on the Kubernetes platform and two thirds on migrating services off the older estate. In your first year, that means moving the job ingestion and search services onto Kubernetes and switching off the last Chef-managed machine images. If you find that kind of archaeology satisfying, you'll enjoy this role a lot more than someone who only wants greenfield.

### What You'll Do

- Bridge cloud infrastructure and business needs, translating requirements into technical answers, and flagging roadblocks before they become surprises.
- Write Terraform to manage AWS resources.
- You'll write code to eliminate manual, repetitive work, extending existing services with plugins where appropriate. "Automate yourself" is a core engineering principle here.
- Own the deployment, scaling, and day-to-day management of our Kubernetes clusters using ArgoCD and Helm.
- Design and maintain the CI/CD pipelines that get our microservices into production.
- Build monitoring and logging for new services, and work with the stack we already run: Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, and AWS CloudWatch.
- Ensure high uptime across all of our services, work on reducing & optimising cloud costs
- Partner with the engineering team to speed up the development cycle on our primary stack, and help retire what's left of the legacy one.
- Keep things consistent, and reach for the clean, simple solution over the clever one.

### Tech Stack Includes

- Languages & Frameworks: Perl, Python, Terraform, Chef
- Frontend: React, HTML, CSS (Tailwind)
- AWS Ecosystem: EC2, S3, EKS, Lambda, RDS, Athena, Kinesis, SES
- Databases & Search: PostgreSQL, MySQL, SOLR
- Monitoring: Grafana, Prometheus, ElasticSearch

While we look out for all of these skills, we do not expect experience in all of them. We value a strong foundation in core programming principles and a genuine eagerness to learn.

## Requirements

### Must have

- 5+ years working as an Infrastructure, DevOps, Platform, or SRE Engineer.
- A knack for consistency and simplicity.
- The ability to work autonomously while communicating clearly and efficiently with a highly distributed team.
- Solid working knowledge of AWS and Kubernetes.
- Fluency in scripting (Python, Bash) and CI/CD tooling to automate infrastructure and deployment.
- Strong grounding in cloud networking, security practices, and identity management (IAM).
- The judgement to architect complex systems and act alongside the existing platform engineers.
- A habit of documenting things well enough that a teammate (or you six months later) can work out what's going on.
- A strong commercial / ROI mentality and focus on business outcomes

### Nice to have experience

You've done some of these:

- Built and configured machine images with Packer and Chef.
- Run workloads on Kubernetes: EKS, ArgoCD, and the debugging that comes with them.
- Configured and debugged Nginx, Apache, or Varnish under real traffic.
- Administered MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Elasticsearch in production.
- Developed a solid grasp of what actually drives email deliverability.
- Optimized a cloud bill.
- Caused a service outage, and then fixed it.
- Owned a mistake, and then shipped the technical or organizational change that stopped it recurring.
- Experience using agentic AI for infrastructure-as-code and/or software development
