## Description

We are seeking an experienced **Licensed Mechanical Engineer (PE)** with expertise in **HVAC and MEP system design** for commercial and institutional buildings. This is a **hands-on engineering position** focused on the design, analysis, and documentation of mechanical systems—not project management.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in mechanical building system design and will serve as the **Engineer of Record**, leading projects from concept through construction while collaborating with architects, engineers, and construction teams. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of **healthcare, commercial, municipal, institutional, veterinary, and other specialized facilities**.

### Responsibilities

-   Design HVAC and mechanical building systems for commercial and institutional projects.
-   Perform engineering calculations, HVAC load analyses, and equipment selection.
-   Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
-   Serve as the **Engineer of Record**, providing technical oversight throughout the design process.
-   Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and other engineering disciplines.
-   Review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and other construction-phase documentation.
-   Conduct field investigations, site visits, and construction observations as required.
-   Resolve design and constructability challenges by developing practical engineering solutions.
-   Support commissioning, inspections, punch-list activities, and project closeout.
-   Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, industry standards, and client requirements.
-   Maintain a high level of technical accuracy and quality throughout all phases of project delivery.

## Requirements

-   **Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.**
-   Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
-   **5+ years of mechanical engineering experience; 10+ years preferred.**
-   Strong experience designing **HVAC and MEP systems** for commercial buildings.
-   Experience with healthcare, municipal, institutional, veterinary, or similarly complex facilities is preferred.
-   Proficiency in engineering calculations, HVAC load analysis, equipment selection, and construction documentation.
-   Strong knowledge of applicable mechanical codes, standards, and engineering best practices.
-   Ability to independently develop, review, and seal engineering designs.
-   Excellent technical, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
-   Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary design teams.
-   **Hands-on mechanical design experience is required.**
-   Candidates whose background is primarily project management without significant engineering design responsibilities will not be considered.
