## Description

We’re seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with hands-on experience in HVAC and mechanical MEP design to join a multidisciplinary engineering team. This role focuses on designing mechanical systems for commercial, healthcare, institutional, municipal, veterinary, and other specialized facilities. The ideal candidate can manage the full mechanical design process, from initial concepts and engineering calculations through construction documentation and project completion, while serving as the Engineer of Record for projects within their licensure.

### Responsibilities

- Lead the design and development of HVAC and mechanical building systems for commercial and institutional projects.
- Perform heating and cooling load calculations, ventilation analyses, energy assessments, equipment sizing, and equipment selection.
- Develop mechanical drawings, technical specifications, equipment schedules, design details, engineering calculations, and construction documents.
- Serve as the Engineer of Record, providing technical leadership and design oversight from conceptual planning through construction and closeout.
- Coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and other engineering disciplines.
- Evaluate project requirements, building codes, existing conditions, and design criteria to develop compliant and efficient engineering solutions.
- Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and technical questions, providing accurate and timely engineering guidance.
- Conduct site assessments, field surveys, construction inspections, and site observations to verify design conditions and installation progress.
- Identify and resolve design discrepancies, code compliance concerns, constructability challenges, and unexpected field conditions.
- Develop cost-effective design alternatives while maintaining system performance, energy efficiency, code compliance, and project requirements.
- Provide technical support during commissioning, inspections, punch-list reviews, and final project closeout.
- Review and seal engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and other technical deliverables as permitted by professional licensure.
- Maintain complete design records and ensure engineering deliverables meet applicable quality standards and project requirements.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, engineers, and other project stakeholders throughout design and construction.

## Requirements

- **Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.**
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience; 10+ years is preferred.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience designing HVAC and mechanical MEP systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, municipal, or similar facilities.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC load calculations, ventilation requirements, equipment sizing and selection, energy performance, and applicable mechanical codes.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or comparable mechanical design software.
- Experience developing and reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, equipment schedules, and construction documents.
- Strong understanding of building systems integration and coordination across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Excellent technical analysis, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Experience working directly with architects, contractors, owners, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- **Substantial hands-on HVAC and mechanical design experience is essential.**
- Experience with healthcare, municipal, institutional, veterinary, or other technically complex facilities is preferred.
- Candidates whose backgrounds are primarily in project management, administration, or coordination, with limited direct mechanical design experience, will not qualify.

## Benefits

- Competitive salary based on experience.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance.
- Retirement savings plan with company contribution.
- Paid time off and company holidays.
- Continuing education and professional development support.
- Opportunity to work on technically challenging commercial and institutional projects.
