### The Bigger Picture

At Andromeda, we're building the social intelligence layer for humanoid robots - technology that allows robots to understand people, build relationships and become a meaningful part of everyday life.

Our first robot, Abi, is already doing this in aged care and healthcare, where she brings conversation, companionship and engagement to people every day.

Now we're scaling from early deployments into a platform that can operate across thousands of real-world environments. We're looking for individuals who want to tackle hard problems across robotics and AI, and help define what it means for robots to live and interact alongside people. 

### Introducing our First Engineering Summer Intern Program 

We’re seeking up to 6 ambitious engineering students to join our Melbourne team for an immersive summer experience. You won't be watching from the sidelines, you’ll be embedded in our core engineering teams, actively assembling, testing, and deploying real-world hardware, firmware, and autonomous systems alongside industry pioneers. 

**We have positions available across:**

-   Hardware Engineering - Electrical, Mechanical & Testing 
-   Software Engineering - Software, Firmware & Autonomy

This is a paid internship program commencing in late October 2026 and concluding at the end of February 2027. The programme would provide approximately three months of active placement, excluding the EOY company shutdown period.

### **How You'll Make an Impact**

-   **Rapid Prototyping & Hardware Assembly** \- Assemble, wire, and modify custom test rigs, fixtures, and cutting-edge prototype hardware.
-   **Rigorous Verification & Testing** - Design, execute, and document technical test protocols across complex hardware, firmware, and autonomous software modules.
-   **Workshop & Field Operations** \- Work shoulder-to-shoulder with senior engineers on mobility rigs, active field testing, and advanced workshop builds.
-   **High-Impact R&D Ownership** - Take ownership of discrete engineering projects designed to accelerate our core robotics roadmap.

## Requirements

-   Ideally penultimate or final year engineering students (**Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Firmware/Embedded, Software, or related discipline**) but open to all high-achieving engineering students 

-   Comfortable getting hands-on in a workshop or lab setting
-   Able to follow technical procedures accurately and work safely under direction
-   Strong communication skills and eagerness to learn alongside senior engineers and technicians
-   Relentless curiosity and a genuine passion for pioneering human-centric robotics
-   Willingness to work onsite, 5 days per week in our Southbank Office

As part of our application process, you’ll be invited to showcase your practical skills beyond your resume by submitting a portfolio, case study, project walkthrough, video introduction, slide deck, or another work sample that reflects how you think and what you can do. You’ll also be asked to provide your academic transcript.
