**Workplace:** on_site

**Department:** Engineering - Software

## Description

### The Bigger Picture

At Andromeda Robotics, we’re not just imagining the future of human-robot relationships; we’re building it. Abi is the first emotionally intelligent humanoid companion robot, designed to bring care, conversation, and joy to the people who need it most. Backed by top-tier venture investors and with customers already deploying Abi across aged care, we’re scaling fast, and we’re doing it with an engineering-first culture that’s obsessed with pushing the limits of what’s possible.

This is a rare moment to join: we’re post-technical validation, pre-ubiquity, and building out the team that will take Abi from early access to global scale.

### Our Values

- **Empathy -** Kindness and compassion are at the heart of everything we do.
- **Play** \- Play sharpens focus. It keeps us curious, fast and obsessed with the craft.
- **Never Settle -** A relentless ambition, bias toward action, and uncomfortable levels of curiosity.
- **Tenacity -** Tenacious under pressure, we assume chaos and stay in motion to adapt and progress.
- **Unity** \- Different minds. Shared mission. No passengers.

### Your Role in the Action

As a Product Engineer at Andromeda Robotics, you’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining our customer-facing applications, including our mobile app, Web, and on-robot visual interfaces. This includes working across the full application stack, building rich, interactive user experiences with React and Flutter on the frontend, while collaborating closely on backend services including integrating with Abi, our humanoid robot!

Your remit will be to develop scalable, maintainable applications that deliver seamless and secure experiences to our customers. Security will be a key focus across all your work.

You’ll have a high degree of independence and responsibility, owning the design and implementation of the work, including software and visual design, API integration, testing, performance optimisation, and CI/CD, partnering closely with product, customer service, backend, and robotics teams to ship polished, reliable applications.

### How You’ll Make an Impact

- Own the roadmap, design, and user experience for our robot’s iOS and Web experiences.
- Using user feedback and stakeholder needs, own decisions and make judgment calls on which designs and user experiences best suit user needs and our goals for the product.
- Develop robust, production-grade mobile, robot, and web applications using enterprise-grade React and Flutter implementations
- Integrate work with ROS and AWS backends, defining and implementing state management, caching, offline/async patterns, and error handling that keep the experience resilient.
- Establish CI/CD, automated testing (unit/widget/integration/E2E), crash reporting, logging, and telemetry to keep quality measurable. Drive release automation for mobile (store pipelines) and web (zero‑downtime deploys, feature flags, A/B, observability).
- Lead design and architecture reviews, mentor engineers, and document standards that scale.

## Requirements

### What We Are Looking For

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering, or equivalent real‑world experience delivering production apps.
- 5+ years building customer‑facing applications, including taking a couple of complex apps from refactor/rewrite to production, ideally owning them end to end.
- Single-threaded experience building app/web designs and user flows, from wireframes, stakeholder feedback, to implementation, without relying on an external UX designer or researcher.
- Proficiency in Javascript TypeScript + React/Next.js (React Native/Angular/Flutter also valued) as well as Python, however we will prioritise someone with good product & design sense over a particular tech stack.
- Experience building applications that run mainly in the cloud, namely AWS
- Proficiency with state management (e.g., BLoC, Riverpod, Provider, Redux), async/data flow, and architectural patterns.
- Strong API integration experience (REST/GraphQL), auth (OAuth/JWT), and secure storage/networking practices.
- Testing mindset across the board; comfortable owning CI/CD pipelines and release tooling.
- Proven performance and accessibility chops; you care about polish and measurable user‑perceived quality.
- Excellent collaboration and communication; experience in requirements gathering & implementation as well as mentoring and setting engineering standards.

### Bonus Qualifications

- Experience developing in Flutter.
- Native iOS/Android experience; release automation and store operations.
- Experience interfacing with data lakes and handling access management flows
- Observability (crash analytics, tracing/metrics), experimentation, and feature‑flag platforms.
- Experience in healthcare/aged‑care or privacy‑sensitive domains.
