## Description

### About the Asian Pacific Fund

Founded in 1993, the Asian Pacific Fund (APF) is the only community foundation dedicated to improving the lives of underserved and marginalized Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPIs) in the Bay Area. We do this by:

- Strengthening our Safety Net: We fund and support an ecosystem of more than 90 Bay Area nonprofits serving AANHPI seniors, youth, and families; 40% of which have budgets of less than $1 million.
- Mobilizing Philanthropy: We connect philanthropy to AANHPI-serving nonprofits, mobilizing funding, regionally and nationally, to increase our collective impact.
- Driving Change: We are informed by the voices in our community and lead by speaking out, convening thought leaders, and amplifying solutions that work.
- Our Affiliate Network: APF has deep roots in the AANHPI community through a vast network of affiliates that operate at multiple levels. From safety net service providers that keep our communities safe and healthy, to advocates who are driving systems and policy changes that improve well-being for all, this network is critical to promoting inclusion and belonging.

The Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. For more information, please visit our website at www.asianpacificfund.org.

###
About the role

The Development Associate keeps APF's fundraising running: donor data in Salesforce, acknowledgments, annual campaigns, and the logistics behind our Gala and donor-facing events. You'll also support our institutional grant work by maintaining the calendar, gathering evidence and input from our grantmaking team, drafting, and handling reporting.

This is a growth-oriented, small-team role. You'll see directly how a community foundation raises money and organizes donors, and you'll be trusted with systems that matter. If you've done some development work and want to grow into grant writing, building foundation relationships, and a donor-strategy mindset, this is a place to do it with meaningful mentorship from senior staff.

## Requirements

### What you'll do

### Development operations and donor data (~45%)

- Serve as administrator for APF's Salesforce donor database, maintaining accuracy and integrity of donor and gift records
- Build and maintain reports and dashboards that let the team see the pipeline clearly
- Process gifts and produce timely, warm acknowledgment letters and invoices
- Support donor-advised fund grants, distributions, and reporting
- Maintain moves-management tracking, so donor next steps stay visible and current
- Provide Finance with the development-side records they need for reconciliation and audit

### Donor programming and engagement (~35%)

- Draft stewardship communications and impact updates for donors
- Support APF's annual gala and regional gatherings, including registration, sponsor fulfillment, planning, and post-event follow-up
- Prepare donor profiles and meeting briefings
- Manage APF's annual online fundraising campaign and year-end appeal

### Institutional giving support (~20%)

- Maintain APF's grants calendar, including deadlines, requirements, and reporting obligations across a small portfolio of grants
- Draft assigned proposals and reports, coordinating across teams as needed
- Track restricted revenue and reporting requirements in Salesforce

### What we're looking for

**You'll thrive here if you bring:**

- Roughly two to four years of nonprofit development, operations, or database experience, or a comparable mix of experience and demonstrated skill
- Hands-on Salesforce experience: you've maintained records, built reports, and cleaned up someone else's data.
- Clear, careful writing. You can tailor your communication for different audiences, and draft a donor thank-you, an appeal, or a section of a funder report thoughtfully.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through on deadlines you own.
- The judgment to triage a week with multiple competing priorities and to flag early when something is going to slip.
- A genuine desire to build relationships with donors as a way to move resources to our communities, and experience with navigating between a donor visit and a site visit.
- Curiosity about foundation relationships and donor strategy, and interest in growing into those skills.
- Commitment to AANHPI communities in the Bay Area and a sense of philanthropy’s strengths and weaknesses.
- An excitement and flexibility to work on a small team with a mighty one-team mindset.

**Also useful, but not required:**

- Exposure to grant proposals or reports in any capacity.
- Experience at a community foundation, intermediary, or grantmaking organization.
- Familiarity with donor-advised funds.
- Experience supporting fundraising events.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft tools, QuickBooks, PayBee, or similar platforms.
- Fluency in a language spoken by Bay Area AANHPI communities.

We don’t expect any one person to arrive with all of this. If you meet most of what's above and the work speaks to you, we'd like to hear from you.
