### Job Description – Specialist/Consultant Pediatric Emergency Medicine

**Location:** Abu Dhabi, UAE  
**Department:** Pediatric Emergency Department

### Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced **Specialist/Consultant Pediatric Emergency Medicine** physician to join a leading healthcare provider in Dubai, UAE. The successful candidate will provide high-quality emergency medical care to infants, children, and adolescents presenting with acute illnesses, injuries, and life-threatening conditions. The physician will work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment, delivering evidence-based, family-centered care while ensuring compliance with **Dubai Health Authority (DHA)** regulations and international clinical standards.

### Key Responsibilities

-   Assess, diagnose, and manage pediatric patients presenting with medical, surgical, and traumatic emergencies.
-   Perform rapid triage, stabilization, resuscitation, and emergency interventions for critically ill and injured children.
-   Manage a wide range of pediatric emergencies, including respiratory distress, seizures, trauma, poisoning, infectious diseases, dehydration, allergic reactions, and cardiac emergencies.
-   Perform emergency procedures including airway management, endotracheal intubation, procedural sedation, lumbar puncture, fracture and dislocation reduction, wound management, chest tube insertion, and vascular access as credentialed.
-   Interpret laboratory investigations, ECGs, X-rays, CT scans, and ultrasound findings relevant to emergency care.
-   Collaborate with Pediatric Intensive Care, Pediatric Surgery, Orthopedics, Neurology, Cardiology, Anesthesiology, Radiology, and other specialties to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
-   Participate in pediatric trauma activations, disaster preparedness, and emergency response initiatives.
-   Provide counseling and education to patients and families regarding treatment plans, follow-up care, and preventive health measures.
-   Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
-   Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality reviews, and Continuing Medical Education (CME).
-   Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, interns, and allied healthcare professionals.
-   Ensure compliance with patient safety, infection prevention, and clinical governance standards.

## Requirements

### Qualifications & Requirements

-   MBBS/MD or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
-   Completion of an accredited residency in **Pediatrics** or **Emergency Medicine**.
-   Fellowship or Board Certification in **Pediatric Emergency Medicine** from a recognized international board (American Board, Canadian Board, CCT, FRCPCH, Arab Board, Australian or equivalent).
-   **Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialization experience for Specialist level or 5–10 years for Consultant level**, depending on DHA eligibility.
-   Eligibility for or possession of a **Dubai Health Authority (DHA) Specialist or Consultant License**. Candidates eligible for licensing are encouraged to apply.
-   Current **PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)** certification is required. **BLS** and **ACLS** certifications are preferred.
-   Demonstrated expertise in pediatric emergency care, trauma management, advanced airway management, procedural sedation, and pediatric resuscitation.
-   Excellent communication, leadership, and clinical decision-making skills.
-   Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered, evidence-based care.

### Preferred Candidate Profile

-   **PQR Tier 1 and Tier 2 qualified professionals will be given preference.**
-   Experience working in **internationally accredited hospitals** is highly desirable.
-   Candidates with clinical experience in **DHA (Dubai), DOH (Abu Dhabi), or MOHAP (Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain)** licensed healthcare facilities are highly preferred. GCC experience is an added advantage.
-   Fellowship or additional expertise in **Pediatric Trauma, Pediatric Critical Care, Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS), Disaster Medicine, Simulation-Based Medical Education, or Pediatric Emergency Ultrasound** is an added advantage.
-   Experience in high-volume tertiary pediatric emergency departments is preferred.
-   Active participation in clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, and medical education is highly desirable.
