## Description

Athena Cloud Limited is seeking a talented and driven Security Engineer to join our Purple Team. As a pioneering provider of Sovereign Cloud, Sovereign AI, and Sovereign Data solutions, we are committed to ensuring the highest levels of security for our clients’ data and systems. 

In this role, you will bridge offensive and defensive security practices to strengthen the organization’s overall security posture. You will work across teams to simulate real-world attack scenarios, identify vulnerabilities, and develop effective defence mechanisms. A key part of this role involves working with Security Event Management Systems (SEMS), Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) to enhance monitoring, detection, and response capabilities across the environment. 

You will contribute directly to improving threat detection, incident response, and resilience against evolving cyber threats in a fast-paced and innovative environment

### Responsibilities

-   Conduct threat assessments, security reviews, and penetration testing. 
-   Operate, tune, and optimize SEMS, IDS/IPS and EDR solutions to improve detection accuracy and response effectiveness. 
-   Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement security strategies and controls. 
-   Support the development and execution of purple team exercises combining offensive and defensive techniques. 
-   Document findings and provide actionable recommendations to improve security posture. 
-   Assist in incident response activities, including investigation and post-incident analysis. 
-   Deliver security awareness input and guidance across the organization. 
-   Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security best practices.

## Requirements

-   Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field. 
-   Proven experience in a Security Engineer or similar role with a focus on purple team methodologies. 
-   Hands-on experience with SEMS (Security Event Management Systems), IDS/IPS and EDR platforms in enterprise environments. 
-   Strong understanding of offensive security concepts, penetration testing tools, and techniques. 
-   Solid experience with defensive security operations, including SOC and incident response workflows. 
-   Familiarity with security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls). 
-   Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation and tooling. 
-   Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and threat-hunting skills. 
-   Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. 
-   Experience with LogRhythm is considered a strong asset.
-   Experience with Waza is considered a strong asset.
-   Relevant certifications (e.g., OSCP, CEH, CISSP, GIAC) are an asset but not required.
