Atria Health is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for our Foundations team, working across Platform, DevOps, and Data Engineering. This is a senior individual contributor role responsible for leading the technical direction of our platform, with a focus on EMR integrations (particularly Athena), systems infrastructure, caching strategies, and robust internal tooling and support for our domain product teams (Clinical Experience, Member Experience, and Care Delivery). You'll own the design and implementation of core platform services while acting as a force multiplier for engineering across the organization. You'll partner closely with engineers and clinical leaders to turn ambiguous problems into clear technical strategies, ensure architectural consistency across teams, and take end-to-end ownership of complex, multi-team initiatives from idea to launch. From defining solutions to ensuring strong monitoring and clean analytics in Mixpanel, you'll care deeply about both how we build and what we achieve. ### Tech Stack - Languages: TypeScript - Backend: Node.js, Express - Frontend: React, Honeypot SDK - Infrastructure: Google Cloud Platform, Terraform - Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis - Integrations: Athena EMR, wearable platforms, third-party healthcare APIs - Tooling: GitHub, Sentry, Okta, Mixpanel, Omni ### Key Responsibilities ### Technical Leadership & Architecture - Partner with the Sr. Director, Foundations to define and drive the technical vision and direction for the Foundations group. - Lead architecture decisions for integration patterns, caching infrastructure, and shared services, and design the APIs, data models, and integration patterns that let teams build new clinical and member experiences without reinventing the wheel. - Serve as a technical escalation point for complex platform challenges, and conduct design reviews to ensure services meet reliability, performance, and security standards. - Raise the bar on reliability and performance by driving SLOs, capacity planning, and incident-ready designs for the systems you own. - Personally execute on the highest-priority and most technically challenging projects, and own end-to-end delivery for complex initiatives that cut across multiple product teams and services. ### Application Performance - Design and implement strategies that improve application performance and reduce external API dependencies. - Build and maintain caching infrastructure with appropriate invalidation patterns. - Monitor and optimize platform performance, identifying bottlenecks and implementing improvements. - Establish best practices and patterns for product teams to adopt. ### Platform & Product Team Enablement - Act as a partner to product engineering teams, understanding their needs and providing platform solutions that accelerate development. - Build and maintain shared libraries, SDKs, and internal APIs that improve developer productivity. - Create documentation, examples, and guidelines for consuming platform services. - Provide technical guidance and support during product team integration efforts. ### Quality, Observability & Analytics - Embed testability in designs: meaningful unit and functional tests, contract tests between services, and automated checks where they matter most. - Ensure new features are instrumented with high-quality analytics in Mixpanel, with events and properties that stay consistent across products. - Work with Product and Data to set up dashboards and monitoring that reflect real user and clinical outcomes, not just vanity metrics. - Drive post-incident reviews and systemic improvements when things break. ### Mentorship & Culture - Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through design guidance, pairing, and thoughtful code review. - Help define and uphold engineering standards: coding conventions, architecture patterns, and documentation norms. - Model a pragmatic, product-focused mindset that balances high standards with iterative delivery and experimentation.
