## Description

## Key Responsibilities

-   Set up and operate flatbed laser cutting machines.
    
-   Load and unload metal sheets and materials safely.
    
-   Select the correct cutting programmes and material specifications.
    
-   Interpret engineering drawings and cutting layouts.
    
-   Check material thickness, grade and dimensions before processing.
    
-   Monitor laser cutting operations to ensure accuracy and consistency.
    
-   Adjust cutting parameters where authorised, including power, speed, focus and gas pressure.
    
-   Ensure materials are correctly positioned and secured on the machine bed.
    
-   Monitor assist gas supplies, consumables and machine performance.
    
-   Identify and report machine faults, cutting issues and production delays.
    
-   Carry out routine machine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance.
    
-   Ensure production targets are achieved while minimising material waste.
    
-   Maintain accurate production records and job documentation.

## Requirements

## Training and Qualifications

-   Previous manufacturing or fabrication experience preferred.
    
-   Flatbed laser machine operator training desirable.
    
-   Experience with CNC-controlled machinery advantageous.
    
-   Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
    
-   Manual handling training.
    
-   Health and safety training.
    
-   Machine-specific safety training.
    
-   Training in lifting equipment where applicable.
