## Description

### Role Purpose

The Windows Server Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, securing and maintaining Microsoft-based server platforms. The role ensures reliable infrastructure operations through effective administration, automation, identity integration and continuous platform improvement.

Key Responsibilities

-   Build, configure and maintain enterprise Windows Server environments.
-   Manage operating system patching, upgrades, hardening and lifecycle activities.
-   Support Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and related identity services.
-   Implement configuration baselines and security controls.
-   Support virtualised and cloud-hosted Windows workloads.
-   Develop PowerShell scripts to automate provisioning and administration.
-   Monitor system performance, availability, capacity and security events.
-   Participate in incident, problem, change and major incident management.
-   Support backup, recovery, resilience and disaster recovery requirements.
-   Investigate complex technical issues and perform root cause analysis.
-   Maintain technical documentation, standards and operating procedures.
-   Collaborate with security, network, database, application and cloud teams.

## Requirements

### Skills and Experience

-   Strong experience administering enterprise Windows Server environments.
-   Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, SCCM and authentication services.
-   Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
-   Understanding of server security, vulnerability management and configuration hardening.
-   Experience with virtualisation, cloud platforms and backup technologies.
-   Familiarity with monitoring, logging and event management tools.
-   Knowledge of high availability, resilience and disaster recovery principles.
-   Strong understanding of platform reliability, security, resilience and operational excellence.
-   Experience participating in incident, problem, change and lifecycle management.
-   Ability to document technical solutions and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
-   A collaborative approach to engineering, with a focus on continuous improvement and automation.
-   Commitment to continuous learning, professional development and relevant industry accreditations.

Education and Professional Background

-   Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
-   Typically six to ten years of relevant experience, or demonstrable expertise appropriate to the role.

-   Experience coordinating the work of others or contributing to technical projects.
-   Understanding of Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD concepts.
-   Relevant Microsoft certifications.
