### Role Overview

The Accountant is an experienced member of the growing Malta Finance team and reports to the Head of Finance in Malta. The role supports the day-to-day finance activities of the Group’s Malta-regulated entities, including an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) and a MiFID investment firm.

Working closely with the Head of Finance, the Accountant will take ownership of core financial accounting, reporting, reconciliations, accounts payable, treasury support and control activities. The position requires relevant financial-services experience, sound judgement and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely in a small team where priorities may shift and responsibilities are shared.

### Key Responsibilities

### Financial Accounting and Reporting

·         Prepare monthly management accounts and complete month-end and year-end close activities, including journals, accruals and prepayments.

·         Own assigned balance-sheet reconciliations, maintain supporting records and resolve reconciling items promptly.

·         Prepare variance analysis and financial schedules for management, Boards and Group Finance.

### Regulatory and Prudential Support

·         Prepare financial, prudential and statistical reporting schedules for review by the Head of Finance, supporting submissions to the Malta Financial Services Authority, the Central Bank of Malta and other relevant authorities.

·         Own underlying reconciliations and supporting evidence for EMI and MiFID reporting, investigating and escalating material discrepancies.

·         Maintain complete supporting records and deliver assigned reporting inputs accurately within agreed deadlines.

### Treasury, Reconciliations and Transaction Support

·         Own routine reconciliations of balances held with banks, payment institutions, brokers, counterparties and other financial institutions.

·         Prepare cash-flow monitoring, authorised payment processing and short-term liquidity information.

·         Work with Operations, Treasury and Trading to investigate transaction or settlement differences, resolving issues where possible and escalating material exceptions.

### Payables, Expenses and Intercompany Support

·         Review and post supplier invoices, checking approvals, coding, VAT treatment and supporting documentation before processing.

·         Prepare payment schedules, reconcile supplier statements and assist with employee expenses and payroll-related postings.

·         Record and reconcile intercompany transactions, recharges and cost allocations using agreed Group processes.

### Controls, Audit and Team Support

·         Follow established financial policies, delegated authorities, segregation-of-duties requirements and documented procedures.

·         Prepare schedules and evidence for audits, statutory accounts, VAT and corporate-tax work, responding to requests under guidance.

·         Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, management information and practical improvements to finance processes and systems.

·         Share routine responsibilities across the two-person Finance team and provide dependable cover during peak periods or absence.

## Requirements

### Essential Qualifications and Experience

·         Degree in Accounting, Finance, Banking or a related discipline, or an equivalent professional qualification.

·         Recently qualified accountant or finalist in ACCA, ACA or an equivalent professional qualification.

·         At least two years’ relevant experience in financial services, ideally within banking, payments, investment services or another regulated environment.

·         Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, double-entry bookkeeping and balance sheet reconciliations.

·         Strong Excel skills and proven ability to work accurately with financial data, manage priorities and meet reporting deadlines.

·         High standards of integrity, confidentiality and professional conduct.

### Desirable Qualifications and Experience

·         Experience within an EMI, payment institution, investment firm, bank or other MFSA-regulated entity.

·         Exposure to IFRS, management reporting, regulatory reporting or financial-services audit.

### Core Competencies

·         Takes ownership of assigned work, maintains clear records and follows issues through to resolution.

·         Applies sound judgement, identifies risks or discrepancies and escalates material matters promptly.

·         Works independently while collaborating closely and communicating clearly in a small, hands-on team.

·         Manages competing priorities and delivers accurate work to agreed deadlines.

·         Demonstrates a practical understanding of regulated financial-services environments and a willingness to deepen knowledge of EMI and MiFID requirements.

## Benefits

·         Competitive base salary of €36,000 to €42,000, depending on experience.

·         Performance-related bonus.

·         Professional development and progression in a fast-growing, regulated financial-services group.

·         Life cover.

·         Excellent career-development prospects within a growing, dynamic and ambitious international organisation.

·         Ongoing professional development, including support for relevant training, CPE requirements and professional qualifications.

·         A collaborative working environment with direct exposure to Group Finance, Treasury, Operations, Trading, Risk and senior management.
