# Head of Studio

> Beanstalk Agtech · Singapore, Singapore (Hybrid) · Full-time · Posted 2026-06-25

**Workplace:** hybrid

## Description

The **Head of Studio** is the founding leader of the studio. This is not just a role for someone who runs a venture studio — it is a role for someone who raises one into existence.

The **Head of Studio** makes sure there is capital to build with, the venture pipeline is healthy, our venture support acts as a force multiplier, and that the studio is investing in the right things.

The role is full-time and Singapore-based. The role will commence in August 2026.

The studio already has strategic, foundational backers that provide runway for the next 18 months. The role will be weighted heavily toward fundraising and funder relationship management in Year 1, with increasing focus on venture direction as the portfolio grows. The right person brings roughly a decade of experience, a capital raise track record, and the builder's instinct to construct something that outlasts them.

## Requirements

### Key Responsibilities

### Fundraising & Capital Architecture

- Design and execute the raise for two parallel vehicles: a technical assistance facility (philanthropic capital) and an impact LP fund (foundations, family offices, impact investors). Each requires a distinct pitch and a distinct funder relationship.
- Deploy and raise simultaneously. The studio does not wait for a closed fund before investing; the studio director must be able to hold both tracks at once without blurring the logic of either.
- Structure the blended finance model — combining philanthropic seed capital, impact LP returns, and a revenue-sharing or equity component across the venture portfolio.

### Funder & Investor Relationships

- Own all funder and LP relationships — from initial conversation through to ongoing reporting and stewardship.
- Build and maintain a co-investor network — partners who share deal flow, participate in follow-on rounds, or anchor the next fundraise.
- Be the studio's public voice to funders and capital — credible on stage, authoritative in writing, trusted in a room.

### Venture Direction & Investment

- Lead venture selection decisions. Own the studio's archetype discipline — knowing when a venture fits and when it does not.
- Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Partnerships Lead and Venture Lead. Not the day-to-day operator, but the person who sets the direction they operate within.
- Help map exit pathways for backed ventures — identifying regional strategic acquirers, distribution partners, and realistic 3–7 year scenarios for value realisation.

### Team Building & Brand

- Build the studio's foundation and brand during the first 12 months of activity.
- Think on a 10–20 year horizon while driving present-day engagement with urgency.
- Work closely with the Beanstalk leadership team and board — aligning the studio's capital and venture strategy with the broader firm.
- Build a high-performing, collaborative team with the Partnerships Lead and Venture Lead.

### What Success Looks Like

In the first 12 months, we will consider this role a success if you have:

- Secured $5M minimum across the two funding vehicles (TA facility and impact fund), with a credible pathway toward $20M. This is the number. Year 1 is defined by it.
- Selected a minimum of 6 ventures for studio investment, with IC decisions documented and archetype discipline intact throughout.
- Built a functioning core team and a funder relationship map that gives the studio a credible pipeline into the next raise.
- Helped establish the studio as a credible, differentiated player in Southeast Asian agtech.

### About You

You have raised real money, allocated it, or exited a company - it’s a bonus if that included a blended capital stack. You understand that grant funders buy the mission and LPs buy the return thesis — and you can argue both, to different rooms, without blurring them.

You understand how the agtech venture ecosystem works across the region, and have insight into how different players operate. You are motivated by the social impact agricultural innovation can unlock, and you are comfortable thinking in systems terms on long time horizons. You have reached your current summit and are hungry for a new challenge you can finally make your mark with.

### Essential

- **~10 years of relevant experience** across venture investment, fund management, DFI or foundation capital deployment, or as an exited founder who has raised from blended capital sources.
- **Capital raise track record** — you have raised real money from LPs, grant funders, or both. This is the non-negotiable.
- **Blended finance fluency** — you understand how philanthropic capital, impact LP structures, and equity or revenue-sharing instruments can be combined into a coherent model.
- **Startup and venture building exposure** — direct experience working with technical founders at the R&D-to-commercial inflection point, whether as investor, advisor, or operator.
- **System builder mentality** — Demonstrated experience in building systems and/or ecosystems; for example, community building, industry groups or impact initiatives.
- **Team builder and leader** — a track record of building and leading an engaged, collaborative team marked by trust and psychological safety.
- **Comfortable holding a stage** — the studio's public voice to funders and investors requires confidence and conviction with public speaking and thought leadership.

### Desirable

- **SEA capital network** — established relationships with impact investors, foundations, family offices, or DFIs active in the region.
- **Agrifood domain familiarity** — not a screen, but a genuine plus. Beanstalk holds the domain expertise; if you bring some too, that sharpens the studio's IC decisions.
- **Experience with blended finance instrument design** — recoverable grants, concessional tranches, or first-loss structures in a development finance or impact investing context.
- **Fluency in a Southeast Asian language** — not required, but a meaningful signal of genuine regional commitment.
