OVERVIEW

### Job Title:  Import Customer Service Representative

### Location: Bensenville, IL  (Chicago)  Onsite

### Schedule:  Monday–Friday, Approximately 8:30 AM–4:30 PM

### Salary Range:  $60,000 - $65,000

### Total Compensation Package: Salary plus medical, dental, and vision insurance and a 401(k) with a 3% employer match. Benefits begin the first of the month following 30 days of service. Training is fully paid.

### Employment: Full-Time, W-2 Salaried

### Required Experience:   Significant customer-facing experience. 3 to 5  years quoting, filing, and auditing customs entries.  

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY:

Our client, a freight forwarding and customs brokerage company, is looking for a detail-oriented Import Customer Service Representative to join a close-knit, collaborative team. You'll get to know your clients' shipping needs inside and out and make sure their import shipments clear customs on time and in compliance.

Day to day, you'll review shipment documentation, process customs entries, and stay in close contact with clients. Training is hands-on: one-on-one time with your supervisor plus shadowing experienced teammates. There is also a clear path to grow into account management or sales roles for people who are committed and eager to learn.

RESPONSIBILITIES

-   Prepare and process customs entries and bonds, primarily for air and ocean shipments, with some cross-border shipments
-   Complete all regulatory requirements and documentation, including transit documents and customs clearances
-   Maintain client-specific Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) databases
-   Process, distribute, and release shipment documentation to carriers, freight forwarders, customers, and agents in a timely manner
-   Review and complete client billing based on established pricing, ensuring accurate costs and profit margins
-   Apply working knowledge of Incoterms and commercial invoice requirements
-   Build strong relationships with airlines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, trucking companies, and logistics vendors
-   Prepare reports and management information as requested
-   Provide courteous, prompt, and professional customer service to clients

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

-   Strong command of the English language. 
-   Customer-Service orientation
-   A team player who takes initiative and is open to learning new ways of doing things
-   Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
-   Understanding of state, federal, and international customs and trade regulations
-   Highly organized, detail-oriented, and willing to take ownership of your work
-   3–5+ years of operational experience quoting, filing, and auditing customs entries
-   Experience working with Participating Government Agencies (PGAs) in the customs clearance process
-   Prior administrative or customer service experience in logistics
-   Proficiency with customs entry software, spreadsheets, and databases
-   Ability to pass a background check

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

-   Experience using Descartes Customs Software
-   Logistics certifications
