### Position Overview

The Public Health (PH) Consultant will provide cross-functional planning, coordination, and project support to BME Strategies. In this role, the Consultant will work across multiple practice areas with support from several practice area leads, including Substance Use Abatement, Coalition-Building & Management, Grants Management, and Project Management & Design. This PH Consultant will act as the “glue” across teams, tracking deadlines, coordinating proposals, and providing strong administrative support, while contributing to client-facing projects. The ideal candidate for this role is: organized; detail-oriented; eager to contribute to mission-driven public health projects; an experienced communicator with a proven track record of working directly with communities, and; enjoys problem-solving, balancing multiple priorities, and supporting collaborative projects in a remote, fast-paced environment.

While working cross-functionally in this role, the PH Consultant will support a variety of public health projects, including: the [North West Public Health Coalition](https://nwcoalition.com/), [Mosaic](https://mosaic.rizema.org/municipal-tta/) (temporary support during parental leave), and long-term development for opioid abatement collaborative coordination and business development in BME’s Substance Use Abatement Practice Area.

### Key Responsibilities

BME Org-Wide Responsibilities for Consultants:

-   Consultant roles at BME consist of approximately 85% project work, 5% administrative work, and 10% business development.
-   Leads or co-leads larger projects, technical and advisory, and contributes to project design.

-   Independently driving work with minimal day-to-day/project oversight.
-   May supervise Associates and Senior Associates.
-   Manages projects to exemplary client satisfaction.
-   Contributes to and/or leads proposals.

Additional Responsibilities:

-   Support multiple client projects through planning, coordination, and administrative support.
-   Contribute to the design and implementation of public health programs, assessments, trainings, and evaluations.
-   Assist with grants management, including preparing budgets, monitoring spending, developing work plans, and submitting reports.
-   Coordinate and facilitate public meetings, training, and community events, including scheduling, materials preparation, and follow-up documentation.
-   Maintain organized records, data, and tracking systems to support internal and client reporting.
-   Contribute to the development of written deliverables such as summaries, reports, presentations, and communication materials.
-   Assist in preparing grant proposals and other funding-related documents.
-   Support coalition and partnership activities by helping manage communication and logistics among stakeholders.
-   Support the design and implementation of substance use abatement (SUA) strategies, including opioid settlement fund stewardship, community needs assessments, harm reduction programming, and linkage to care coordination for local and state partners
-   Collaborate with team members to continuously improve processes and client service.
-   Perform other duties as assigned in support of BME’s mission and client commitments.

### Experience, Qualification, & Skills

-   Required:

-   Minimum of 4-6 years of experience working in applied public health (local, state, or federal level), project coordination, or a related field; 2 or more years in a consulting firm environment preferred.
-   Master’s degree in Public Health or a related field.
-   Minimum 1-4 years of client-facing experience.
-   Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced consulting environment.
-   Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
-   Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
-   Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse colleagues, clients, and community partners.
-   Experience with public health accreditation, quality improvement, or performance management initiatives is desirable.
-   Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and standard project management tools.
-   A valid driver’s license is required.
-   Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced consulting environment.
-   Experience supporting or leading community engagement, including partner mapping, outreach, qualitative data collection 
-   Proven track record of facilitating meetings and stakeholder convenings
-   Familiarity with open meeting law conventions
-   Direct experience working with and coordinating municipal/local, state or federal stakeholders
-   Experience working directly with municipalities or local health departments
-   Experience in substance use, opioid abatement, harm reduction, treatment access (MAT/MOUD, peer recovery, linkage to care), and/or tobacco control, including lived experience
-   Strong technical writing for public-facing reports and presentations

-   Preferred: 

-   Previous experience contributing to business development including: sourcing new business, partner and client outreach, proposal writing and budget/project scoping experience
-   Familiarity with opioid settlement fund (OSF) stewardship frameworks and allowable spending categories 
-   Experience in substance use prevention, including youth prevention programming, school-based initiatives, or community-level prevention strategies
-   Familiarity with evidence-based prevention frameworks (e.g., Strategic Prevention Framework, Drug-Free Communities model)
-   Experience coordinating with partners across the substance use system, including treatment providers, recovery community organizations, harm reduction programs, public health agencies, and/or law enforcement/criminal justice partners

### Work Environment 

-   This is a full-time position based in a home office environment within the U.S.
-   BME Strategies in a remote-first organization. This role may require occasional travel to client sites, conferences, or meetings as required; once-per-month travel is anticipated for this role.

-   The salary range for this position is $79,040 - $112,320 annually.
