## Description

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our personal injury practice on a remote, independent contractor basis. This position is ideal for a candidate based outside the United States who has experience supporting attorneys at a U.S.-based personal injury law firm and is comfortable working overlapping hours with a U.S.-based legal team.

The primary focus of this role is **litigation support**, including discovery, court filings, deadline management, deposition coordination, and trial preparation. Candidates must also have prior pre-litigation personal injury experience and understand how cases progress from initial client intake through settlement or litigation.

The successful candidate will be organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple cases while maintaining accurate documentation, meeting deadlines, and providing professional, compassionate client service.

### Key Responsibilities

**Litigation Support**

-   Assist attorneys and case managers with managing personal injury cases throughout the litigation process.
-   Prepare, draft, and organize litigation documents, including pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, and legal correspondence, under attorney or case manager supervision.
-   Coordinate discovery activities, track responses, organize supporting documentation, and follow up on outstanding materials.
-   Monitor and calendar court deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial dates.
-   Assist with court filings and ensure legal documents are prepared and submitted within applicable deadlines.
-   Coordinate depositions, hearings, mediations, and other litigation-related activities.
-   Organize evidence, medical records, discovery materials, exhibits, witness lists, and other documents for case preparation.
-   Assist with trial preparation, including organizing trial exhibits, witness information, and case files.
-   Maintain accurate and organized electronic case files and ensure litigation documents are readily accessible.

**Pre-Litigation Case Support**

-   Demonstrate an understanding of the pre-litigation process and how personal injury cases progress toward settlement or litigation.
-   Assist with reviewing and organizing medical records, medical bills, accident reports, and other supporting documentation.
-   Support the preparation of settlement demand packages and related documentation as needed.
-   Maintain familiarity with insurance claims, medical treatment documentation, and pre-litigation case development.
-   Assist with transferring and organizing case materials when a matter proceeds from pre-litigation to litigation.

**Client Communication**

-   Serve as a point of contact for clients regarding case updates, scheduling, documentation, and general questions.
-   Maintain regular, professional communication with clients and provide a supportive client experience.
-   Obtain information and documentation needed to advance cases.
-   Handle sensitive client information with discretion and professionalism.

**Case Management and Administrative Support**

-   Open, organize, and maintain client files in the firm's case management system (Filevine or similar).
-   Maintain accurate case notes, document records, and task updates.
-   Schedule client meetings, depositions, mediations, and other case-related appointments.
-   Coordinate with attorneys, case managers, legal assistants, and investigators to ensure cases progress efficiently.
-   Assist with records retrieval, intake-related tasks, and other case support duties as needed.

Monthly Pay Range: $2,300–$2,500 USD

## Requirements

Qualifications

-   **Required:** Previous experience working for a U.S.-based personal injury law firm.
-   **Required:** Hands-on litigation experience supporting personal injury attorneys, including familiarity with discovery, pleadings, court filings, litigation deadlines, depositions, and trial preparation.
-   **Required:** Previous pre-litigation personal injury experience, including familiarity with medical records, medical bills, insurance claims, settlement demands, and case development.
-   Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, Litigation Legal Assistant, Litigation Paralegal, or in a comparable personal injury litigation support role.
-   Working knowledge of the personal injury case lifecycle, from pre-litigation through litigation.
-   Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-   Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
-   Ability to manage multiple cases, prioritize competing tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
-   Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
-   Experience with legal case management software.
-   Familiarity with electronic filing systems, court procedures, and litigation documentation.
-   Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive client information appropriately.
-   Comfortable working independently in a remote environment and collaborating with a U.S.-based team.

**Preferred Qualifications**

-   Experience supporting attorneys with a substantial personal injury litigation caseload.
-   Experience preparing discovery requests and responses, organizing deposition materials, and assisting with trial preparation.
-   Familiarity with Texas personal injury litigation procedures and court requirements.
-   Bilingual in English and Spanish, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.

Work Environment and Expectations

-   Remote, independent contractor position supporting a Texas-based personal injury law firm.
-   Must be located outside the United States.
-   Must be available to work overlapping hours with the U.S.-based legal team.
-   Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent communication with attorneys and case managers.
