### **Wound Care Medical Director**

### **Position Summary**

The Wound Care Medical Director provides clinical leadership and oversight for wound care services, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based patient care and regulatory compliance. This role combines direct patient care with programmatic leadership, quality improvement, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to optimize wound healing outcomes.

### **Key Responsibilities**

-   Provide medical direction and clinical oversight for wound care services
-   Deliver direct patient care for acute and chronic wounds, including complex and non-healing wounds
-   Establish and oversee evidence-based wound care protocols and treatment pathways
-   Supervise and collaborate with wound care clinicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and ancillary services
-   Review clinical outcomes, documentation quality, and adherence to standards of care
-   Participate in quality improvement, performance measurement, and patient safety initiatives
-   Support compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and documentation requirements
-   Collaborate with hospital leadership, surgeons, podiatry, infectious disease, and primary care providers
-   Provide education and mentorship to wound care team members
-   Participate in program development, growth initiatives, and service line planning
-   Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation

### **Practice Setting**

-   Hospital-based wound care center, outpatient clinic, or integrated wound care program
-   May include inpatient consultative services
-   Schedule includes clinical and administrative responsibilities

### **Patient Population**

-   Adult patients with acute, chronic, and complex wounds
-   Conditions may include diabetic foot ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, pressure injuries, surgical wounds, and ischemic wounds

### **Qualifications**

-   MD or DO from an accredited medical school
-   Completion of an accredited residency program (e.g., Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Surgery, or related specialty)
-   Board certified or board eligible in primary specialty
-   Experience or training in wound care management required
-   Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the practicing state
-   DEA registration or eligibility
