This role focuses on admissions, cross-coverage, and acute clinical management during nighttime hours, ensuring continuity of care, patient safety, and timely response to emergent medical needs. ### **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** - Provide overnight inpatient medical coverage for hospitalized patients - Evaluate and admit patients from the emergency department and direct admissions - Manage acute medical issues and changes in patient condition - Provide cross-coverage for existing inpatients - Respond to rapid response events, codes, and medical emergencies as required - Coordinate care with nursing staff, consultants, and ancillary services - Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care teams - Ensure clear and thorough handoffs to daytime hospitalist teams - Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation - Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and utilization initiatives - Supervise and collaborate with advanced practice providers or residents as applicable - Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards ### **Qualifications** - Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school - Completion of an accredited residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine - Board-eligible or board-certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine - Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure - DEA registration or eligibility ### **Skills and Competencies** - Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills in acute care settings - Ability to work independently during overnight hours - Excellent communication and teamwork skills - Ability to manage high-acuity patients efficiently - Commitment to patient safety and evidence-based care ### **Work Environment** - Acute care hospital inpatient setting - Overnight and shift-based scheduling, including weekends and holidays ### **Physical Requirements** - Ability to stand and move throughout hospital units - Manual dexterity for bedside assessments and procedures as required - Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient evaluation **Facility will sponsor J1 or H1B visa candidates for 2027** ## Requirements Must maintain state certification and/or licensure. ## Apply [Apply at Commonwealth Medical Services](https://apply.workable.com/commonwealth-medical-services/j/67216650A0/apply) --- Powered by [Workable](https://www.workable.com)
