### **Emergency Medicine Physician (MD/DO)**

_(Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine with Emergency Medicine Fellowship)_

### **Position Summary**

The Emergency Medicine Physician provides immediate evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients presenting with acute illness or injury in the emergency department. This role involves the management of undifferentiated, high-acuity patients across all age groups and requires rapid clinical decision-making, procedural expertise, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver timely, high-quality care.

### **Essential Duties and Responsibilities**

-   Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with a wide range of emergent medical, surgical, and traumatic conditions
-   Perform emergency procedures including airway management, resuscitation, procedural sedation, wound care, fracture stabilization, and point-of-care ultrasound, consistent with training and privileges
-   Rapidly assess patient acuity and prioritize care based on clinical urgency
-   Interpret diagnostic studies including laboratory tests, imaging, and electrocardiograms
-   Initiate stabilization, treatment, and disposition plans including admission, transfer, or discharge
-   Participate in trauma, stroke, sepsis, STEMI, and cardiac arrest response protocols as applicable
-   Collaborate with nursing staff, consultants, EMS, and ancillary services
-   Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care
-   Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation
-   Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and departmental initiatives
-   Supervise and collaborate with advanced practice providers, residents, and learners as applicable
-   Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards

### **Qualifications**

-   Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
-   One of the following training pathways:

-   Completion of an accredited Emergency Medicine residency **OR**
-   Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency with an Emergency Medicine fellowship

-   Board-eligible or board-certified in Emergency Medicine **or** Board-certified in Family Medicine with Emergency Medicine fellowship training
-   Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure
-   DEA registration or eligibility
-   BLS and ACLS required; ATLS and PALS as required by department

-   Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and emergency response
