## Description

We're helping a rapidly growing healthcare AI company find a **Senior Forward Deployed Engineer** to lead the technical delivery of AI agent deployments for major healthcare organizations across the United States.

The company has a reported valuation of $1.6 billion and doubled its revenue last year. Its customers include some of the largest health systems, healthcare providers, health insurers, and pharmaceutical organizations in the country.

This is an opportunity for an entrepreneurial, technically versatile engineer who combines strong software engineering skills with customer-facing leadership. You'll own complex enterprise engagements from initial discovery and solution design through implementation and post-launch support, working directly with executive stakeholders while helping shape the company's AI platform and product roadmap.

**About the Role**

We are seeking a **Senior Forward Deployed Engineer with 5–15 years of software engineering experience** to architect, build, and deploy production-grade AI agent systems for sophisticated healthcare clients.

In this role, you'll operate at the intersection of software engineering, AI, healthcare technology, and enterprise consulting. You'll translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions, integrate AI systems with existing healthcare infrastructure, and take ownership of delivery across the entire client engagement lifecycle.

You'll work independently, make critical architectural decisions, and collaborate with healthcare executives, technical teams, and internal product leaders. You'll also bring insights from customer deployments back into the core platform, helping develop reusable components and influence future product development.

**Responsibilities**

- **Own end-to-end client engagements:** Lead technical delivery from pre-sales demonstrations and requirements gathering through solution design, integration, implementation, and post-launch support.
- **Architect and build AI agent systems:** Design and deploy production-ready AI applications that integrate with complex healthcare systems, including EHR/EMR platforms, claims systems, specialty pharmacy infrastructure, and CRMs.
- **Lead technical client sessions:** Facilitate working sessions, present technical solutions, and communicate effectively with C-suite executives and other senior stakeholders at major healthcare organizations.
- **Make independent architectural decisions:** Take ownership of system design, technology selection, integration strategy, and technical problem-solving, often operating as the primary engineer on an engagement.
- **Build production software:** Develop reliable, scalable applications and integrations using modern programming languages, cloud infrastructure, and AI technologies.
- **Work with healthcare data:** Build data pipelines and ingestion systems that process structured and unstructured data, support machine learning workflows, and meet applicable healthcare privacy and security requirements.
- **Influence product development:** Translate lessons from client deployments into platform improvements, reusable components, and product capabilities that support future implementations.
- **Drive customer outcomes:** Remain accountable for the technical quality, reliability, and business impact of multimillion-dollar enterprise engagements.

## Requirements

**Required Qualifications**

- **5–15 years of software engineering experience**, with a strong background in building and delivering production software systems.
- Experience owning full technical delivery for enterprise clients, including pre-sales support, requirements gathering, solution scoping, implementation, integration, and post-launch support.
- Experience building and deploying customer-facing software systems end-to-end through production engineering, solutions engineering, solutions architecture, or technical consulting.
- Healthcare or life sciences domain expertise, particularly in patient services, specialty pharmacy, pharmacovigilance, clinical operations, health insurance, or HIPAA-related compliance.
- Ability to design end-to-end system architectures and produce clear, comprehensive architecture diagrams.
- Strong client-facing communication and professional presence, with the ability to lead technical sessions and present solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior executives.
- Fluency in modern programming languages and frameworks, including **JavaScript, Node.js, TypeScript, Python, Next.js, and React**.
- Experience building data and machine learning pipelines, including ETL/ELT workflows, document ingestion, unstructured data processing, PySpark, or predictive modeling.
- Experience deploying production applications and managing cloud infrastructure using AWS, GCP, or comparable platforms.
- An entrepreneurial, ownership-driven mindset, with the ability to work independently, navigate ambiguity, make decisions under pressure, and take accountability for complex client engagements.
- Existing authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship or transfer.

**Bonus Qualifications**

- Experience as a founding engineer, startup co-founder, startup CTO, or software engineer at a high-growth startup.
- Experience building and deploying LLM-powered systems or AI agents, including prompt engineering, function calling, structured outputs, guardrails, and observability.
- Formal machine learning or internal data science experience on healthcare-related projects.
- Experience integrating AI systems with EHR/EMR platforms, claims infrastructure, specialty pharmacy systems, healthcare CRMs, or other enterprise healthcare applications.
- Familiarity with HIPAA, healthcare data privacy, and security requirements for production software.
- Experience building scalable data infrastructure, ETL/ELT pipelines, and document-processing workflows for complex enterprise datasets.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, WebSockets, vector stores, LLM orchestration, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and coding agents, including Claude Code and Gemini.
- Experience presenting architecture decisions and technical recommendations to executive stakeholders at large enterprises.

## Benefits

- **Base Salary:** $170,000–$205,000 per year.
- **On-Target Earnings (OTE):** $190,000–$240,000 per year.
- **Equity:** Competitive equity opportunity.
- **Remote Work:** Work remotely within the United States, with a preference for Eastern or Central time zones.
- **Quarterly Team Offsites:** Opportunities to collaborate in person with the team in New York.
- **High-Impact Enterprise Work:** Build AI solutions for some of the largest healthcare organizations in the country.
- **Technical Ownership:** Lead complex deployments and make meaningful architectural decisions across enterprise AI implementations.
- **Product Influence:** Directly influence the core AI platform and product roadmap through real-world client deployments.
- **Career Growth:** Work at the intersection of healthcare, AI, enterprise software, and technical consulting within a rapidly growing company.
