_This is a fully remote role for candidates who are based outside of the New York Metropolitan area. For those located in the area, we encourage you to consider our hybrid work arrangement (1-2 days a week in our NYC office). The Control Center Operator I plays a critical role in the daily monitoring and operations of Convergent’s fleet of energy storage and solar assets. They will create and update trouble tickets to track equipment issues, escalate issues to the appropriate party, work with field technicians to perform corrective and preventive maintenance, and perform other tasks as directed by Control Center Operators II-III. They have, or are able to quickly obtain, a foundational understanding of the components of a power plant, energy dispatch strategies, vigilant monitoring practices, and alarm response actions. They will also become familiar with all Emergency Response Plans (ERPs) and be able to act as the initial responder and escalation point during an emergency.

This is an individual contributor role and therefore does not have any direct reports.

**What You’ll Do**

_Daily Asset Operations (40%)_

o Be proactive in increasing level of knowledge about plant equipment, SCADA systems, and Emergency Response Plans (ERPs).

o Apply basic knowledge of energy storage systems, PV solar systems, and SCADA platforms to perform assigned operational duties.

o Perform a daily assessment of asset operational status and create trouble tickets to prioritize investigation and remediation of issues.

o Manage asset dispatch based on platform directives.

o Respond to changing conditions to maximize plant safety and efficiency.

o Ensure compliance with all regulatory and contractual requirements through adherence to all operational procedures, processes, and policies.

o Monitor data inputs such as weather conditions, solar irradiance, demand response requests, and real-time and predictive demand and use that data to respond to dispatch and curtailment requests as directed by documented processes, operating agreements, and outage directives.

o Answer phone calls and work with field technicians to perform corrective and preventive maintenance on site equipment.

o Follow approved operational procedures to complete routine tasks such as operating switchgear and starting/stopping equipment.

o Recognize unsafe working conditions and know when to utilize Stop Work Authority.

_Event Management & Triage (25%)_

o Visually monitor network, asset, and plant parameters, data points, and sensor outputs to verify operating conditions and detect faults or malfunctions.

o Respond to proactive monitoring alerts and document faults or issues encountered during operations.

o Log and record actions taken during your shift within monitoring, activity logging, and ticketing systems.

_Incident Response & On-call Escalation (20%)_

o Escalate impactful issues to our vendors, partners, data carriers, and Field Operations team.

o Provide support and assist our vendors and Field Operations team in troubleshooting and resolving issues.

o Respond to working and off-hours calls to our Emergency Response line and take appropriate action.

_Problem Management & Change Management (15%)_

o Anticipate typical problems, identify potential or recurring problems, discover opportunities for improvements, and take appropriate action.

o Coordinate with customer, vendor, and partner organization contacts on forced or scheduled outages.

## Requirements

_Required Qualifications_

o Proficient in operating computers while multitasking various systems including the plant’s main Integrated SCADA system, and all other plant SCADA systems used in monitoring and controlling plant operations.

o Experience with using supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems or Asset/Building management systems to monitor and run a portfolio of energy assets.

o Experience operating assets for an electrical or other utility, renewable energy or other municipal service provider.

o Experience using and controlling electrical meters, relays, PLC’s and RTACs.

o Knowledge of basic electrical engineering concepts.

o Alignment with Convergent’s mission, values and a strong interest in the Clean Energy Transition.

o 5% travel expected, primarily for team events and company-wide meetings.

_Preferred Qualifications_

o B.S. in a relevant Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, etc.) preferred.

o Experience operating battery energy storage systems or experience operating / monitoring renewable or traditional generating facilities strongly preferred.

o ITIL, NERC or equivalent certifications a plus.

Base Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000; Salary Commensurate with Qualifications and Experience.
