**Pay Range:** $ $26.85 –$ $35.85 per hour, based on years of experience

**Shift Available:** 8:00AM - 4:30PM

**Schedule:** Monday - Friday

**JOB SUMMARY:**

The HVAC Journeyman performs installation, maintenance, modification, overhaul, service and repair of all types of air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment. Assist with general facility maintenance as needed. Embrace and model Covenant Woods business standards, Code of Conduct, and focus on the Promise in all aspects of delivery of service.

**ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:**                                                 

-   Installs, maintains, adjusts, modify and perform major overhaul and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning systems by interpreting blueprints, manufacturer specifications, written and verbal instructions.
-   Installs, troubleshoots, repairs or calibrates, and maintains reciprocating and centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, direct expansion systems, electric blast coils, immersion coils pumps, fans, starters, pneumatic and electric controls, electrostatic filters, domestic refrigerator, walk-in coolers and freezers, fountain equipment and ice makers.
-   Troubles shoots various mechanical and electrical systems to determine causes of operating errors or failures.  Use professional knowledge to correct problems according to prescribed standards, document the conditions found and corrected to ensure good equipment repair histories for safety and cost.
-   Uses specialized techniques to perform preventive maintenance; make recommendations regarding major overhaul of systems according to specification and local HVAC codes.
-   Charges all types of refrigeration equipment.
-   Repairs and maintain various mechanical and electrical systems in conjunction with other crafts to ensure the sharing of knowledge and cross training between crafts.
-   Assists in carrying out all general planned and unplanned maintenance throughout the facility as needed.
-   Performs any additional duties as assigned to support departmental operations and resident satisfaction.

## Requirements

-   High school diploma or GED equivalent.

-   Must have a current HVAC Journeyman license with DPOR and EPA certification card to meet governmental regulations with the state of VA.

-   Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a licensed Journeyman HVAC mechanic with the understanding of machines and equipment, including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance.

-   Knowledge of servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical or electrical principles.

**Preferred**

-   Minimum of one (1) year experience with current BAS programs.

-   Experience in a Continuing Care and Retirement Community (CCRC) or Healthcare setting is highly desirable.
