**ROLE OVERVIEW:**

The **Estimator / Detailer** position is a dynamic dual-phase role designed for an ambitious professional looking to build a career in structural timber design and manufacturing. Reporting directly to the Pre-Cut Manager / Team Leader, you will initially focus on **accurate material take-offs and preliminary cost estimations.** As you progress, you will receive structured training in industry-leading **MiTek and Pryda detailing software**, transitioning into full timber frame and truss detailing responsibilities.

**RESPONSIBILITIES:**

_**Phase 1: Estimating & Take-offs**_

-   **Quantity Take-Offs:** Analyze architectural drawings and structural plans to produce precise timber and hardware material take-offs.
-   **Costing & Material Preparation:** Calculate required material quantities and prepare accurate preliminary estimates for internal review.
-   **Software Familiarization:** Utilize estimating tools and foundational MiTek/Pryda features to build complete component schedules.

_**Phase 2: Transition & Detailing Execution**_

-   **Detailing Training & Execution:** Progress under Team Leader guidance to prepare accurate production and layout drawings using MiTek/Pryda software.
-   **Workload Management:** Balance day-to-day estimating and detailing tasks efficiently to meet established project deadlines.
-   **Internal Communication:** Liaise clearly in English with internal team members, the Team Leader, and factory/production departments to clarify design and material requirements (external communication with clients and suppliers is handled by the Team Leader).
-   **Systems & Documentation:** Maintain meticulous digital records, software data, and required administrative or safety documentation.

## Requirements

-   **Education & Credentials:** A Tertiary Degree or Diploma in Architecture, Draughting, Building Construction, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent practical hands-on industry experience.
-   **Estimating Expertise:** Proven background in performing plan take-offs and estimating timber components and framing requirements.
-   **Technical Aptitude:** Strong proficiency in reading architectural plans and foundational exposure to MiTek, Pryda, or similar structural software.
-   **Language Proficiency:** Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

**Preferred**

-   **Industry Experience: 2+ years of prior experience** working within timber framing, roof trusses, or pre-cut manufacturing environments.
