**Workplace:** on_site

**Department:** Field Jobs

## Description

**Machinist - Midland, TX**

D2B Groups is partnering with an established CAT dealer to build out its engine service team. They support customers running gas and diesel engines and large engine packages, and they are hiring a Machinist to join the Engine Group in Midland, TX.

This role is shop-based and local only. You'll live within commuting distance of Midland and work a standard schedule with overtime available. If you know machines and want a dealer that invests in its people, we want to talk to you.

Pay: $32–37/hr+ (Depending On Experience)

**What You'll Do**

- Set up and operate conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.
- Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on parts.
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors — speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth/angle of cut — or enter commands to retrieve, input, and edit computerized machine control media.
- Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust as needed.
- Perform trial runs and verify accuracy of machine settings.
- Verify conformance of finished work pieces to specifications.
- Fit and assemble parts into complete assemblies; install machined replacement parts and test operation.
- Operate welding equipment to cut or weld parts when needed.
- Develop specifications from general descriptions for parts to be fabricated; sketch parts when needed.
- Confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, and others to resolve machining or assembly problems.

**What We're Looking For**

- Experience on large bore engines — this is the priority.
- High preference for a Caterpillar background.
- Hands-on machinist experience in an engine machine shop, rebuild shop, or equivalent industrial setting.
- Practical problem-solving ability; able to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Blueprint reading and precision measurement skills.
- Comfortable with conventional and CNC/NC machines and machining centers.

## Requirements

- High school diploma or GED; or 3–5 years related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Work Steps assessment required.
- Midland, TX — local only. You must live in Midland or be willing to relocate.
- Standard shop schedule with overtime available.

## Benefits

- Competitive hourly pay with potential of overtime. Pay rate of $32-37/hour
- Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, plus 401(k) and paid time off
- Factory-backed training and a clear path of development.
