### Position Overview

We are seeking an HPC Platform Architect to serve as the technical and business liaison for an enterprise High Performance Computing environment supporting engineering simulations, analytics, and AI/ML workloads. This role combines infrastructure architecture, capacity planning, stakeholder management, and technology strategy to ensure our HPC platforms evolve with future business demands.

The ideal candidate is someone who can:

-   Understand engineering workload requirements and forecast future demand.
-   Translate stakeholder needs into infrastructure strategies and architecture recommendations.
-   Communicate effectively with technical teams, vendors, and executive stakeholders.
-   Balance technical trade-offs, business priorities, and long-term platform investments.
-   Drive collaboration across globally distributed teams.

### Key Contributions & Responsibilities

-   Serve as the primary liaison between HPC operations teams, business stakeholders, and enterprise IT infrastructure organizations.
-   Gather demand signals from engineering organizations and translate business requirements into infrastructure strategies, technical designs, and architecture roadmaps.
-   Facilitate stakeholder meetings and help prioritize investments in compute, storage, networking, and cloud capabilities.
-   Forecast future compute demand by analyzing usage patterns, workload trends, and evolving engineering simulation requirements.
-   Contribute to the architecture, design, and lifecycle management of on-premises, hybrid, and cloud-based HPC platforms.
-   Define reference architectures for compute (CPU/GPU/accelerators), high-speed interconnects, parallel storage, and workload orchestration.
-   Translate complex workload requirements into scalable, resilient, and cost-effective system designs.
-   Establish performance benchmarks, capacity models, and scaling strategies; evaluate emerging technologies and guide vendor selection and platform roadmaps.
-   Ensure compliance with security, reliability, availability, and enterprise architecture standards.
-   Support executive-level decision making for technology investments; participate in architecture governance and enterprise standards bodies.

### Team Structure & Work Environment

-   You will work within a globally distributed operations team, serving as liaison to the HPC operations team, business unit stakeholders, and IT infrastructure teams. The role includes participation in weekly team standups and facilitation of cross-functional collaboration.
-   This is a fully on-site role at our Technical Center in Mossville, IL.

## Requirements

### Education & Experience

-   5–7 years of relevant experience required. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field required.

### Top 3 Skills

-   Understanding of High Performance Computing (HPC) environments and infrastructure concepts.
-   Experience with architecture, capacity planning, and technology strategy for compute platforms.
-   Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

### Preferred Technical Skills

-   Linux-based compute environments and automation.
-   Familiarity with HPC schedulers such as PBS, Slurm, or LSF.
-   High-speed networking (InfiniBand, high-performance Ethernet).
-   Parallel storage technologies and distributed computing concepts.
-   Exposure to cloud and hybrid HPC strategies.
-   GPU-accelerated computing and AI/ML workload support.
-   Strong analytical skills with experience in capacity planning, cost modeling, and trade-off analysis.
-   Infrastructure as Code and automation tooling such as Ansible or Terraform.
