## Description

We are looking for a Head of English for an international school based in Shanghai. This position is available from the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year in August 2026.

Job responsibilities

-   Lead and manage the English department, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and student progress
-   Teach English to secondary school students and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons
-   Develop, review, and improve the English curriculum in line with the school’s academic goals
-   Support and mentor English teachers, including lesson observations, feedback, and professional development
-   Monitor student achievement and use assessment data to improve learning outcomes
-   Prepare lesson plans, assessments, reports, and other teaching-related materials
-   Work closely with school leadership and other departments to support whole-school academic development
-   Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and department matters
-   Organize and support English-related academic activities, competitions, reading programs, and enrichment projects

## Requirements

-   Bachelor’s degree or above in English, Education, Literature, or a related subject
-   Recognized teaching qualification
-   At least 3 years of relevant English teaching experience
-   Previous experience as Head of Department, Subject Lead, or similar leadership role is preferred
-   Strong knowledge of international curricula and assessment standards
-   Excellent classroom management, communication, and leadership skills
