### About Essnova Solutions

At Essnova Solutions, Inc., we connect talented professionals with meaningful work supporting government and scientific missions. We value collaboration, thoughtful problem-solving, and the expertise each person brings to the team. Join us in supporting engineering work that helps advance groundbreaking research.

### About the Role

Essnova Solutions is seeking an experienced **Mechanical CAD Designer** to support the **Advanced Light Source Upgrade (ALS-U) Project** at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

You will turn engineering concepts into detailed mechanical models, complex assemblies, and manufacturing-ready drawing packages. Working closely with engineers, scientists, and project personnel, you will support the fabrication, assembly, and installation of systems for a major scientific facility upgrade.

### Key Responsibilities

- Create and maintain detailed three-dimensional mechanical part and assembly models using **PTC Creo Parametric** or other project-approved CAD software.
- Develop and refine mechanical designs that meet functional requirements while accounting for schedule, cost, materials, and integration constraints.
- Build and manage complex assemblies using parent-child relationships, patterns, sweeps and trajectories, simplified representations, and top-down design techniques.
- Prepare manufacturing- and assembly-ready drawing packages, including detailed fabrication drawings, multi-sheet assembly drawings, and bills of materials.
- Apply **geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)** and project drafting standards to clearly communicate design intent.
- Collaborate with engineers, scientists, project managers, and other disciplines to resolve technical issues, evaluate design alternatives, and coordinate mechanical interfaces.
- Participate in design reviews and incorporate engineering feedback and approved changes into models and documentation.
- Maintain organized, revision-controlled models, drawings, libraries, and design files within **Windchill** or other designated engineering systems.
- Complete assigned work in accordance with project schedules, quality requirements, applicable standards, and LBNL engineering practices.
- Follow applicable site access, safety, security, cybersecurity, work control, and confidentiality requirements.

## Requirements

### Required Qualifications

- Knowledge or experience equivalent to a bachelor’s-degree level in mechanical design, engineering technology, drafting/design, or a closely related specialty, including equivalent computer-aided drafting experience.
- At least **five years of current or recent professional experience using PTC Creo Parametric**, formerly Pro/ENGINEER/Wildfire, for mechanical CAD design.
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage complex assemblies, understand parent-child relationships, and apply advanced Creo modeling methods.
- Experience producing manufacturing-ready Creo drawing packages that include **GD&T, multi-sheet assembly drawings, detailed fabrication drawings, and bills of materials**.
- Significant technical expertise in mechanical engineering principles and practices, including translating functional requirements into technical designs and evaluating alternatives within schedule, cost, and material limitations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, scientists, and project teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, accurate technical documentation practices, and the ability to meet task schedules and technical performance requirements.

### Preferred Qualifications

- Experience supporting DOE national laboratories, research facilities, particle accelerators, or other complex scientific or industrial engineering projects.
- Experience with **Windchill** or another Product Lifecycle Management/Product Data Management system.
- Experience supporting **synchrotron or beamline design** activities.
- Experience supporting fabrication, assembly, installation, or commissioning of complex engineered systems.
- Experience designing complex scientific or industrial apparatus, equipment, assemblies, facilities, utilities, or systems.

### Work Location and Travel

This position is expected to be performed **primarily onsite at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, California**, unless otherwise authorized by the customer. Routine travel is not anticipated; any required travel must receive advance authorization.

### Equal Employment Opportunity
