An exciting opportunity has arisen to join this team as a **Software Development Intern**, learning all about our customer facing applications.

In the **Digital Technology team**, we’ve made it easy and enjoyable for our customers to book our trains and hotels by delivering rich, responsive, and engaging applications across multiple devices and building highly transactional micro-services to support our architecture. Building a beautiful and effective UX supported by performant APIs is key to the success of the company’s service and our team plays a pivotal role in making this a reality.

**This position is offered on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract basis with the potential to go permanent. The position is based in our London office with hybrid working.**

## Requirements

**You'll be...**

-   Working and learning in an agile team that all contribute towards the planning and development of the systems the team use
-   Learning about the ways of working and the methods of defining solutions, from engineers, Product Owners and Business Analysts
-   Understanding React/Next.js for client-facing applications
-   Learning to design and build Node.js/GraphQL APIs
-   Learning how to identify and resolve reported issues

**You'll need...**

-   Enthusiasm for learning modern JavaScript applications (frontend or backend, eg ECMAScript, TypeScript, Node.js, React, Vue, Angular, Next.js, etc)
-   Willingness to learn and develop new skills
-   Willingness to demo your completed work
-   Currently enrolled in academic or private studies of computer science
