# Graduate Engineer Trainee > Exponent Energy · Bengaluru, India · Full-time · Posted 2026-09-22 **Workplace:** on_site **Department:** After Sales ## Description **Your Team:** You’ll be working with Exponent’s After Sales / Service Engineering team, supporting field operations across our LV (3-wheeler), HV (bus), and battery service lines. This team runs on coffee with an infectious passion for keeping our customers running — across vehicle types and geographies. They help deliver the promised experience to our customers and bring alive the proposition of Exponent Enabled Rapid Charging so that our customers benefit from 15-minute rapid charging at all times. Build to simplify. **What you will do:** • Support the After Sales / Service team in delivering timely on-site (or remote, where possible) technical support across our LV, HV, and battery service lines, helping minimise vehicle and system downtime. • Learn and apply structured fault-finding on EV systems — batteries (Li-ion), powertrain, motors, and charging systems — from first-level diagnosis to working alongside senior engineers on complex issues. • Work hands-on with diagnostic tools, CAN-based diagnostics, and test instruments across vehicle and battery platforms, building practical field experience from day one. • Interact directly with customers and fleet operators to understand issues, explain root causes and fixes in simple terms, and ensure a smooth, transparent service experience. **Responsibilities:** • **Field & Remote Support:** Assist in providing on-site & remote technical support for LV, HV vehicle/battery systems, working towards vehicle turnaround time (TAT) commitments for immediate concern closure. • **Fault Diagnosis & Troubleshooting:** Diagnose and help resolve issues related to battery packs, powertrain, motors, and charging systems, under guidance from senior engineers. • **Root Source Analysis (RSA):** Support analysis of failure data to help & identify root causes and assist in defining corrective and preventive actions. • **Battery Rework & Swap Support:** Assist with battery pack rework activities and support battery swap operations and failure investigations. • **Preventive Maintenance:** Support periodic maintenance schedules and service campaigns, ensuring adherence and completion within timelines. • **Documentation & Reporting:** Maintain accurate, up-to-date service records and prepare technical reports. • **Design for Service (DFS) Feedback:** Provide field feedback to engineering / product teams to improve serviceability and support continuous product and process improvement. • **Customer Interface:** Connect with customers and fleet operators professionally — explain technical issues and resolution steps clearly, guide them on safe operation and maintenance of vehicles, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and transparency in service delivery. • **Escalation Management:** Track issues through to closure, keep customers and internal stakeholders informed of progress, and escalate critical or unresolved issues to senior engineer’s / engineering teams promptly and with proper documentation. **The ideal candidate requires:** • 0–1 year of relevant experience; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. • Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent demonstrated knowledge and strong technical proficiency in these areas. • Strong fundamentals in electrical and mechanical engineering, with an interest in EV systems — LV or HV vehicles, batteries , motors, and charging systems. • Basic understanding of high-voltage systems, HVIL (High Voltage Interlock Loop), signal circuits, and power connections (or a demonstrated ability and willingness to learn quickly). • Basic understanding of CAN communication and CAN-based diagnostics, or willingness to learn. • Practical familiarity with instruments such as multimeters, clamp meters, oscilloscopes, and insulation testers (Meggers), gained through coursework, projects, or internships (good to have, not mandatory). • Ability (or willingness to learn) to use diagnostic software / OEM diagnostic tools, and to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). • Structured problem-solving approach, detail-oriented, and a customer-first attitude. • Comfortable interacting directly with customers and handling escalations calmly — strong interpersonal skills and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders. • Willingness to travel extensively and relocate to field / depot locations based on business requirements. • Good English communication skills; fluency in regional languages (e.g. Telugu, Hindi, Kannada) is a plus. **What matters:** Quality of work Approach towards problem-solving Empathy towards customers Dissatisfaction towards mediocre work Resilient attitude to bounce back after failing About Us Exponent is building the energy stack powering commercial EVs in India.
