You will be working as a Engineering Manager (Identity) in our Technology Division, which is now composed of 75+ people in Lagos, Bangalore, Paris, Türkiye, and remotely across the globe.

We are building Engineering centres of excellence across multiple regions and are looking for smart, talented, driven engineers. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the core engineering team of a fast-growing fintech poised for more rapid growth in the coming years.

As an **Engineering Manager (Identity)** at FairMoney, you will lead an engineering squad responsible for building and maintaining reliable identity and KYC solutions that support our products and customers across markets.

You will combine strong people leadership with a hands-on technical background, working closely with engineers, Product, Risk, Compliance, and other stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and high-quality solutions. You will play a key role in shaping the squad’s technical direction, engineering practices, and overall performance.

### **We are looking forward to having you work on:**

· Leading, mentoring, and developing engineering squads while fostering a strong culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement;

· Providing technical leadership for identity, authentication, KYC, and related backend systems;

· Working closely with Product, Risk, Compliance, and other teams to translate business and regulatory requirements into reliable technical solutions;

· Driving the design, development, and delivery of scalable and resilient distributed systems;

· Ensuring high standards across architecture, code quality, testing, security, reliability, and engineering practices;

· Supporting engineers in solving complex technical challenges and making sound engineering decisions;

· Managing team performance, growth, hiring, and development while ensuring the squad has the right skills and support to succeed;

· Monitoring system performance and reliability, identifying areas for improvement, and driving continuous technical improvements;

· Contributing to engineering strategy and helping shape the technology roadmap for Identity.

### **🔧 Our Technical Stack**

· Our customer-facing product is an Android application;

· It communicates with Ruby on Rails or Go-lang backends (Sidekiq, RSpec);

· Our ML pipeline is API-Flask (Python);

· We are hosted on AWS: Kubernetes, SNS, SQS, Lambdas, RDS Aurora MySQL and PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, S3, and Kinesis;

· Prototype of a data warehouse on GCP (GCS, BigQuery, Cloud Composer);

· We run our CI/CD pipeline with GitHub Actions.

## Requirements

**Basic Qualifications**

· 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with experience in a backend engineering environment;

· 2+ years of experience managing software engineering teams;

· Strong hands-on experience with backend development and distributed systems;

· Experience designing, building, and operating scalable and reliable production systems;

· Strong understanding of software engineering principles, architecture, testing, CI/CD, and system reliability;

· Strong problem-solving and technical decision-making skills;

· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills;

· Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating closely with Product and other business functions.

**Preferred Qualifications**

· Experience working on identity, authentication, KYC, onboarding, fraud prevention, or related financial services systems;

· Experience working in fintech, banking, payments, or another regulated financial services environment;

· Strong experience with Go, Ruby/Rails, or another backend programming language;

· Experience building and operating distributed, event-driven, or microservices-based systems;

· Experience working with AWS or other major cloud platforms;

· Experience leading engineering teams through complex technical projects and organisational change;

· Experience mentoring senior engineers and developing technical leadership within a team.
