# Robotics Engineering Intern - Mechatronic Design

> Flexion Robotics · Zürich, Switzerland · Temporary · Posted 2026-07-30

**Workplace:** on_site

**Department:** Hardware Engineering

## Description

### About Flexion:

At Flexion, we're building the intelligence layer powering the next generation of humanoid robots. Our mission is to accelerate the transition from fragile prototypes to real-world deployment of humanoids. We are founded by leading scientists in robot reinforcement learning (ex-Nvidia, ex-ETH Zürich) and backed by leading international VC firms. Within a few months, we’ve gone from our first line of code to deploying real humanoid capabilities with our partners.

### **The role**

We're looking for a hands-on Robotics Engineering Intern (Mechatronics) who loves taking an idea from sketch to working hardware on a real robot. You'll design and integrate mechatronic extensions to our robot fleet - manipulators, sensor payloads, custom mounts - and own them end-to-end: from initial concept and CAD design through fabrication, software integration, commissioning, and testing in the field.

This is a rare chance to see your own designs come to life on humanoid robots. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and pick up the integration and debugging skills that only come from putting your parts on a robot and watching what happens. If that sounds like something that would be fun for you, we would love to hear from you.

### Key responsibilities

- Design mechatronic extensions to our robot fleet (for example new manipulators, sensor payloads etc)
- Maintain our robot fleet
- Design mechatronic extensions to our robot fleet - new manipulators, sensor payloads, mounting systems, and custom hardware
- Take designs from concept through CAD, prototyping, and fabrication to a validated, robot-ready component
- Integrate your hardware with our software stack, including drivers, interfaces, and commissioning on real robots
- Test and iterate on your designs based on real-world performance, and refine them until they hold up in daily use
- Support the maintenance, repair, and readiness of our robot fleet
- Document your designs, integration steps, and lessons learned so the team can build on your work

## Requirements

- Currently pursuing an MSc in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or similar
- Hands-on experience with robotic systems
- Experience with at least one CAD software
- Good programming skills in C++
- Familiar with Linux/Ubuntu environments
- Autonomous working style
- Currently pursuing an MSc in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Hands-on experience with robotic or mechatronic systems (coursework, personal projects, internships, or lab work)
- Solid experience with at least one CAD tool (SolidWorks, Onshape, or similar)
- Good programming skills in C++
- Comfortable working in Linux/Ubuntu environments
- Autonomous and collaborative working style - you take ownership of a component from first sketch to working hardware
- Professional working proficiency in English

Nice to Have

- Experience with rapid prototyping and fabrication (3D printing, CNC, machining)
- Hands-on electronics skills (soldering, PCB design, sensor integration, debugging with multimeters or oscilloscopes)
- Familiarity with ROS/ROS 2 or similar robotics middleware
- Python for scripting, tooling, or test automation
- Basic Git and version control experience
- A portfolio of builds, robots, or custom hardware projects you're proud to show off

## Benefits

- Competitive compensation
- A front-row seat at one of Europe's most ambitious robotics companies
- An energetic, collaborative team with a bias for action
