**Job Description:**

Fortanix seeks a talented and motivated Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join the India team. The SDET will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our platform by developing and executing comprehensive test plans and automated test suites. 

**Key Responsibilities:**

-   Own the test strategy for Platform services, covering unit, integration, contract, end-to-end, and performance testing
-   Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks and suites, mostly in Rust, plus Python or TypeScript where appropriate
-   Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, keep feedback loops fast, and reduce flaky tests
-   Build test environments and test data for distributed systems, using containers, mocks, and service virtualization
-   Write API and contract tests for service-to-service communication (REST)
-   Run and analyze performance, load, and resilience tests, and turn the results into concrete engineering actions
-   Review code and design documents to check testability and quality risks early
-   Investigate production incidents and defects, find gaps in test coverage, and close them
-   Help verify fixes for security findings and add regression coverage for them
-   Mentor engineers on testing practices, and share tooling and patterns across the team
-   Track quality metrics such as escaped defects, flakiness rate, pipeline duration, and coverage, and report on them.

## Requirements

-   Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 
-   +5 years in software engineering or test automation, with at least 3 years as an SDET or in a similar role
-   Strong programming skills in at least one systems or general-purpose language. Rust experience is preferred. Go, C++,with a willingness to learn Rust is acceptable
-   Experience testing microservices and distributed systems in production
-   Hands-on experience with CI/CD tooling (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and containers (Docker, Kubernetes)
-   Experience with API testing, contract testing.
-   Working knowledge of performance testing tools (e.g., k6, Locust, Gatling)
-   Ability to debug across service boundaries using logs, metrics, and traces.
-   Experience in security.
