**Job Summary**

We are seeking an experienced **Interim Emergency Services Manager (RN)** for a 13-week leadership assignment in Arcata, California.

This position is ideal for a seasoned Emergency Department nurse leader with strong clinical experience and proven management capabilities. The Interim Emergency Services Manager will provide day-to-day leadership for emergency services, support staff performance, maintain quality and patient-safety standards, and help ensure efficient clinical operations throughout the department.

Candidates must have at least **5 years of Emergency Room / Emergency Department experience** and a minimum of **2 years of nursing management experience**.

**Key Responsibilities**

·        Provide daily leadership and operational oversight for the Emergency Department.

·        Supervise nursing staff and support effective staffing, scheduling, and workflow.

·        Promote safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care throughout emergency services.

·        Monitor department operations and address staffing, patient flow, and clinical issues as they arise.

·        Support staff accountability, performance, communication, and professional development.

·        Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, ancillary departments, and hospital administration.

·        Help maintain appropriate staffing levels based on patient volume and acuity.

·        Support patient throughput and reduce unnecessary delays in care.

·        Monitor compliance with clinical policies, regulatory requirements, and hospital standards.

·        Participate in quality-improvement and patient-safety initiatives.

·        Review incidents, trends, and operational concerns and help implement corrective actions when appropriate.

·        Support orientation, coaching, and onboarding of emergency department staff.

·        Assist with employee performance management and conflict resolution.

·        Ensure appropriate communication during shift changes and leadership handoffs.

·        Respond to urgent clinical or operational issues within the Emergency Department.

·        Promote collaboration between nursing, physicians, registration, laboratory, imaging, and other support services.

·        Maintain a professional, patient-centered, and safety-focused work environment.

**Required Qualifications**

Candidates must have:

·        Active **California Registered Nurse (RN) license**

·        Minimum **5 years of Emergency Room / Emergency Department nursing experience**

·        Minimum **2 years of nursing management or leadership experience**

·        Current **BLS certification**

·        Strong understanding of Emergency Department operations

·        Experience supervising or managing clinical staff

·        Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills

·        Ability to manage multiple operational priorities in a fast-paced environment

·        Ability to work independently in an interim leadership capacity

·        Required health clearance, including current TB clearance as applicable

**Preferred Qualifications**

Strong candidates may also have:

·        Previous Emergency Department Manager or Nurse Manager experience

·        Interim nursing leadership experience

·        Charge Nurse, Supervisor, or Assistant Nurse Manager experience

·        Experience in a short-term acute-care hospital

·        Experience with staff scheduling and workforce management

·        Experience with Emergency Department quality metrics and patient flow

·        Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards

·        Experience with performance improvement and staff development

·        ACLS certification

·        PALS certification

·        TNCC certification

·        BSN or advanced nursing degree
