**Workplace:** remote

**Department:** Finance

## Description

Tyme is seeking a senior lawyer to lead regulatory strategy for stablecoin and digital asset initiatives across multiple jurisdictions. This role requires deep experience evaluating crypto and stablecoin regulatory frameworks, engaging with regulators, and assessing how stablecoin structures can operate across markets with differing licensing, reserve, issuance, custody, payments, AML/CFT, and consumer protection requirements.

The ideal candidate will combine legal and regulatory expertise with strong commercial judgment, particularly in emerging markets. They should understand the practical regulatory arbitrage opportunities and constraints for stablecoins across jurisdictions, including Europe’s MiCA regime, and be capable of leading the  build of a real-time regulatory intelligence capability supported by large AI models.

Working Arrangement: This is a remote role. The candidate should be comfortable working across time zones and collaborating with teams, regulators, and partners in multiple jurisdictions.

### Key Responsibilities

- Lead Tyme’s legal and regulatory analysis for stablecoin initiatives across global markets, with particular focus on emerging markets, Middle East and Europe.
- Evaluate jurisdictions for stablecoin issuance, distribution, custody, payments integration, reserve management, redemption rights, licensing obligations, capital requirements, AML/CFT expectations, sanctions compliance, data protection, and consumer protection.
- Assess regulatory arbitrage opportunities and risks across jurisdictions, including where stablecoin activity may be most efficiently structured, licensed, or partnered.
- Advise on crypto-related licensing strategy in Europe and UAE/Middle East, including requirements applicable to e-money tokens, asset-referenced tokens, crypto-asset service providers, issuers, custodians, exchanges, and payment-related activities.
- Engage directly with regulators, policymakers, supervisors, central banks, and financial intelligence units to explain Tyme’s stablecoin strategy, seek regulatory clarity, and support licensing or approval processes.
- Develop jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction regulatory playbooks for stablecoin deployment, including market entry requirements, permissible structures, prohibited activities, partner models, and ongoing compliance obligations.
- Work closely with product, compliance, risk, treasury, engineering, data science, and executive teams to translate regulatory requirements into operating models and product design.
- Lead the design and development of an AI-enabled regulatory intelligence platform capable of tracking, interpreting, and updating stablecoin regulatory developments in real time across multiple jurisdictions.
- Partner with technical teams to define legal taxonomies, regulatory ontologies, source hierarchies, model evaluation criteria, risk-scoring frameworks, and human-in-the-loop review processes for the AI regulatory model.
- Monitor evolving laws, enforcement actions, consultations, regulatory guidance, licensing decisions, and supervisory expectations affecting stablecoins, crypto-assets, payments, and digital money.
- Advise on partnerships with banks, licensed crypto-asset service providers, payment institutions, e-money institutions, custodians, exchanges, and infrastructure providers.
- As capacity permits, support Tyme on broader regulatory matters beyond stablecoins, including fintech, payments, digital assets, licensing, compliance, and jurisdictional market-entry issues.

## Requirements

Required Qualifications

- Law degree and admission to practice law in at least one relevant jurisdiction.
- Significant experience advising on crypto-assets, stablecoins, digital payments regulation.
- Demonstrated experience evaluating multiple regulatory jurisdictions for digital asset activity.
- Strong understanding of stablecoin regulatory issues, including issuance models, reserve requirements, redemption rights, custody, licensing, AML/CFT, sanctions, prudential supervision, and consumer protection.
- Experience engaging with financial regulators, central banks, policymakers, or supervisory authorities.
- Practical knowledge of Europe’s MiCA framework and licensing implications for stablecoin and crypto-asset business models.
- Ability to assess regulatory arbitrage opportunities while maintaining a clear view of legal, reputational, enforcement, and operational risks.
- Strong commercial judgment and ability to support business decisions in ambiguous or rapidly evolving regulatory environments.
- Ability to work effectively with technical teams building AI, data, or regulatory monitoring systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief executives clearly and concisely.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with licensing applications for crypto-asset, payment institution, e-money institution, banking, or financial services businesses.
- Prior work with regulators or public policy bodies on crypto, digital assets, financial innovation, or payments.
- Experience designing or supervising regulatory knowledge systems, AI-assisted legal research tools, compliance monitoring systems, or legal/risk taxonomies.
- Familiarity with regulatory regimes across Africa, Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Europe.
- Understanding of tokenized deposits, CBDCs, fiat-backed stablecoins, reserve-backed instruments, and cross-border settlement models.

Candidate Profile

- The successful candidate will be a senior, pragmatic regulatory lawyer who can operate at the intersection of law, policy, technology, and financial innovation. They will be comfortable working in fast-moving markets, engaging with regulators, and helping Tyme identify where stablecoin initiatives can be launched responsibly, efficiently, and defensibly.
- This person should not only understand existing stablecoin regulation, but also be able to help Tyme anticipate how regulation is changing and build systems that keep the company ahead of those changes.
