Greenlife Healthcare Staffing is currently seeking a **Surgical/Operating Room Tech** to fill an opening at a Healthcare Facility (Acute Care/Academic Medical Center) located in Syracuse, New York. This role is ideal for an experienced CST with trauma center or teaching hospital experience who thrives in a fast-paced, high-acuity surgical environment.

**Key Responsibilities:**

-   Prepare and maintain the sterile field, ensuring all surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment are set up correctly and functioning prior to procedures.
-   Assist the surgical team by passing instruments, sutures, and sponges during operations, anticipating the needs of the surgeon.
-   Count sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after procedures to ensure patient safety.
-   Maintain aseptic technique and adhere to infection control protocols at all times.
-   Handle specimens appropriately and prepare them for laboratory analysis as directed.
-   Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping prior to surgical incision.
-   Clean and restock the operating room between cases, including proper handling of contaminated instruments and disposal of sharps and biohazard waste.
-   Monitor and maintain surgical equipment and instruments, reporting any malfunctions or needed repairs.
-   Collaborate with circulating nurses, surgeons, and anesthesia providers to ensure efficient and safe patient care throughout the perioperative process.
-   Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with surgical techniques and technologies.

## Requirements

**Qualifications:**

-   **Licensure:** Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required.
-   **Experience:**

-   Minimum of 3+ years of recent Operating Room experience (within the last 4 years).
-   Experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 trauma center, teaching hospital, or similar facility.
-   Scrub experience required.
-   First-time travelers must have experience in similarly sized/level hospitals.

-   **Technical Skills (Required Experience in the following specialties)**:

-   Trauma
-   Orthopedics (Ortho)
-   General Surgery
-   ENT
-   Vascular
-   GYN

-   **Additional Preferred Experience in the following specialties:**

-   Neurosurgery
-   Bariatric
-   GU (Genitourinary)

-   Experience in Adult OR or equivalent specialty size
-   No First Assist (per New York State regulation)
-   **Soft Skills:**

-   Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain sterile technique under pressure.
-   Excellent communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia staff.
