We are looking for a highly technical **SEO & Web Performance Specialist** to take ownership of the website’s technical SEO, performance, search visibility and overall user experience.

This is a hands-on role focused on **identifying and resolving technical issues, improving Core Web Vitals and page speed, and enhancing organic search performance**. You will also work closely with an external development partner to ensure website improvements are effectively implemented, monitored and measured.

### What You'll Do

- Own the technical SEO strategy and website performance.
- Improve Core Web Vitals, LCP, INP and CLS.
- Diagnose and optimise page speed, mobile performance, images, scripts and other website resources.
- Assess the performance impact of third-party scripts.
- Conduct technical SEO audits and monitor crawling, indexing and rendering.
- Manage site architecture, internal linking, redirects, canonicalisation, robots.txt and XML sitemaps.
- Implement and validate structured data/schema.
- Identify and resolve JavaScript and other technical issues affecting organic search performance.
- Provide technical SEO input for website changes, redesigns and new development.
- Use Google Search Console, Google Analytics, PageSpeed Insights, Lighthouse and Chrome DevTools.
- Set performance benchmarks and report measurable improvements.

### Working With Our External Development Partner

- Act as the **technical SEO owner** on our side of the relationship.
- Identify technical problems and translate them into clear, actionable developer requirements.
- Review proposed solutions, test changes and confirm whether issues have been properly resolved.
- Ensure SEO and performance improvements are implemented effectively rather than relying on developers to identify issues.

## Requirements

- 4+ years of technical SEO experience.

- Strong understanding of how websites work technically.
- Proven experience improving Core Web Vitals and website performance.
- Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Solid understanding of crawling, indexing, and rendering.
- Hands-on experience with Google Search Console, Google Analytics, PageSpeed Insights, Lighthouse, and Chrome DevTools.
- Experience diagnosing and resolving website performance issues.
- Experience working directly with web developers.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Experience with Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, Semrush, or similar SEO tools.

- Git/GitHub experience.
- Knowledge of CDNs and caching, such as Cloudflare.
- Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React or Next.js.
- WordPress or other CMS experience.
- Basic Python or SQL knowledge.
- Experience with structured data/schema.
- Experience managing large or technically complex websites.
- Experience managing external development agencies.

### What You'll Bring

- Naturally curious and focused on finding the **root cause** of technical problems.
- Strong attention to detail and a data-driven approach.
- Comfortable getting hands-on with technical website issues.
- Able to turn complex technical problems into practical solutions.
- Confident working independently and taking ownership.
- Strong communicator who can work effectively with developers, management, and non-technical teams.

## Benefits

- Competitive salary package.
- Technical ownership of a growing UK business website.
- Opportunity to work across SEO, web performance, and development.
- Exposure to modern web technologies and digital platforms.
- Ongoing learning and professional development.
- Supportive and collaborative working environment.
