## Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with strong expertise in Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, and backend engineering to join our Digital Products engineering team.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience designing and developing scalable, high-performance RESTful APIs, distributed services, and enterprise-grade backend applications. The role requires strong expertise in Node.js development, API integrations, performance optimization, testing practices, and modern cloud-native engineering environments.

The candidate should have experience working within Agile teams and possess strong knowledge of banking, financial services, fintech, or enterprise digital platforms.

## Requirements

### Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and RESTful APIs using Node.js technologies.

• Build highly available, secure, and performance-oriented backend services supporting enterprise digital platforms.

• Develop and maintain API integrations, microservices, and distributed service architectures.

• Write clean, maintainable, secure, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.

• Perform performance tuning, debugging, monitoring, and optimization of backend applications.

• Develop and maintain unit tests and ensure strong code quality standards across applications.

• Collaborate with architects, product teams, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality technology solutions.

• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, architecture decisions, and engineering improvements.

• Troubleshoot complex production issues across distributed services environments.

• Contribute to CI/CD automation, deployment improvements, and engineering process enhancements.

• Research, evaluate, and benchmark modern technologies to improve application performance and scalability.

### Required Technical Skills

### Backend Development

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on coding experience with Node.js and JavaScript.

• Strong expertise in Node.js backend development frameworks.

• Strong experience designing and developing scalable RESTful APIs.

• Hands-on experience with TypeScript (minimum 1 year).

• Strong understanding of asynchronous programming and backend application architecture.

### API & Integration

• Practical experience with GraphQL.

• Experience with API Gateway integrations such as 3Scale or similar platforms.

• Strong understanding of authentication and authorization mechanisms including:

-   JWT
-   OAuth
-   Token-based authentication
-   Secure API practices

### Database & Messaging

• Strong experience working with databases and data-driven applications.

• Experience with distributed messaging and queue-based architectures including:

-   Kafka
-   AWS messaging services
-   Microsoft Azure messaging services
-   Pushpin or similar technologies

### Cloud & DevOps

• Strong understanding of CI/CD principles and modern software delivery practices.

• Hands-on experience with containerization technologies including:

-   Docker
-   Kubernetes

• Experience troubleshooting and supporting applications within distributed cloud environments.

### Functional Skills

• Experience following strong coding, security, unit testing, and documentation standards.

• Experience designing reliable and scalable application architectures.

• Ability to contribute to technical design discussions and engineering decisions.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.

• Ability to work effectively within enterprise technology environments.

• Experience in Banking, Financial Services, FinTech, or Digital Payments platforms is highly preferred.
