## Description

We are looking for an experienced **Technical Lead** with a strong **backend engineering focus** to design, build, and operate large-scale distributed systems.

The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on expertise in **Node.js, TypeScript, Express.js, Microservices, Kafka, MongoDB, Redis, Cloud, Docker, and Kubernetes**, with strong experience building and operating high-scale backend platforms in production environments.

The role also requires hands-on frontend development experience, particularly with **ReactJS**, with **Angular** experience being relevant for full-stack delivery. As a Technical Lead, you will provide technical direction to a cross-functional engineering team while remaining hands-on with architecture, development, code quality, performance, and delivery.

You will work closely with Product Owners, Architects, DevOps teams, and other engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable, reliable, and maintainable platforms supporting digital products and everyday banking capabilities.

## Requirements

### Key Responsibilities

-   Lead the design, development, and operation of large-scale, cloud-native backend platforms.
-   Design and develop scalable backend services using **Node.js, TypeScript, and Express.js**.
-   Architect and implement **microservices-based distributed systems**.
-   Design and implement **event-driven architectures** using Kafka for asynchronous processing and service-to-service integration.
-   Design scalable data models and optimize **MongoDB** databases, including indexing, aggregation pipelines, and performance tuning.
-   Implement **Redis** for caching, distributed locking, session management, and performance optimization.
-   Develop and maintain frontend applications using **ReactJS** while maintaining a strong backend engineering focus.
-   Work with **Angular** where required as part of full-stack application development.
-   Design and develop secure, scalable, and well-documented APIs.
-   Implement appropriate **authentication and authorization** mechanisms and follow secure API design practices.
-   Build highly available and resilient systems capable of supporting mission-critical production workloads.
-   Drive application performance optimization, scalability, reliability, and observability.
-   Design and operate cloud-native solutions across **Azure, AWS, or GCP**, with Azure preferred.
-   Containerize applications using **Docker** and orchestrate workloads using **Kubernetes**.
-   Implement and improve **CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and DevOps practices**.
-   Participate in architecture and technical design discussions and drive appropriate technical decisions.
-   Establish and enforce engineering standards, coding practices, and code quality across the squad.
-   Conduct code reviews and ensure maintainable, secure, and production-ready code.
-   Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive root-cause analysis and resolution.
-   Plan technical delivery, estimate work, manage dependencies, and support successful sprint execution.
-   Mentor and guide engineers on architecture, development practices, debugging, performance optimization, and engineering standards.
-   Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, DevOps, QA, and other engineering teams to ensure successful delivery.
-   Contribute to technical roadmaps, platform improvements, and continuous engineering optimization.

**Backend**

-   Experience operating mission-critical applications in production.
-   Azure experience is preferred, with AWS or GCP also acceptable.
-   Experience with both **ReactJS and Angular** is an advantage.
