## Description

**We’re looking for a Compliance Analyst**

Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, this role will partner with and provide compliance support to all US-based underwriting and claims teams, with a primary focus of supporting Hamilton Select Insurance Inc., an excess and surplus lines carrier.  This role will be a US-based role with a preference for candidates in Richmond VA; however, other candidates will be considered.

Hamilton Select has experienced substantial growth, increasing licensing requirements, regulatory obligations, governance activities and business initiatives. The Compliance Analyst will provide hands-on support across licensing, regulatory filings, sanctions screening, governance, monitoring, regulatory change and day-to-day business advisory activities.

**Overview**

-   Act as a responsive Compliance business partner to Hamilton Select, including Claims, Underwriting, Operations and Finance.  
-   Coordinate surplus lines compliance activities, including tax-form validation, missing-form remediation, premium reporting, data calls and regulatory research.
-   Support regulatory licensing for Hamilton Select, and other insurers within the Group and relevant individuals, including monitoring renewals, continuing education requirements and state-specific obligations.
-   Review regulatory bulletins and communications and identify relevant legislative or regulatory changes for escalation and action.
-   Support improvements to compliance processes, reporting and controls.

**Sanctions screening**

-   Complete real-time sanctions screening for ad hoc requests received from Claims and Underwriting
-   Support daily sanctions screening of batch files
-   Escalate potential matches or concerns in accordance with established procedures and maintain appropriate evidence of screening activity.

**Surplus lines coordination and monitoring**

-   Enter surplus lines data into underwriting policy admin systems for each issued policy and follow up on any inconsistences..
-   Validate surplus lines license information, including the relevant state and license number.  Follow up with brokers on for missing or incorrect information..
-   Responsible for multiple internal reports to validate data to be reported externally.

**Licensing**

-   Coordinate and monitor entity and individual licenses, including monthly renewal and continuing education tracking.
-   Coordinate applications, renewals, amendments and supporting documentation with internal stakeholders, regulators and external service providers.
-   Maintain accurate licensing trackers and provide timely escalation of upcoming deadlines, deficiencies or potential gaps.

**Regulatory filings and reporting**

-   Coordinate surplus lines premium by broker report filings across several states for both quarterly and annual filings.
-   Coordinate recurring annual data calls to include collecting and validating data.
-   Monitor filing calendars, retain evidence of submissions

**Regulatory change, governance and administration**

-   Review daily bulletins and emails from Departments of Insurance and vendor sources for relevant legislative changes and regulatory communications and communicate to the business as necessary.
-   Assist with regulatory and compliance research requests and translate findings into clear, practical actions.
-   Provide state-specific information required  to complete annual Secretary of State filings
-   Contribute to governance materials, management information, compliance monitoring and process documentation as required.

## Requirements

**What you require for the role**

**Knowledge, Experience and Skills**

-   Experience in insurance compliance, regulatory operations, licensing, surplus lines, operations or a comparable regulated environment.
-   Knowledge of the US property and casualty insurance market; experience with excess and surplus lines requirements is strongly preferred.
-   Experience coordinating state licences, regulatory filings, data calls and recurring compliance obligations.
-   Strong research skills and the ability to translate requirements into practical business actions.
-   Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience working with reporting tools, workflow systems and online regulatory portals; Power BI experience is advantageous.
-   Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage a high volume of recurring deadlines and maintain complete audit trails.
-   Ability to build effective working relationships with Underwriting, Claims, Operations, Finance, brokers, regulators and external service providers.
-   Clear written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to pursue outstanding information and escalate issues appropriately.
