**Job Role:** Civil Engineer

**Compensation range:** $2,500 AUD - $3,500 AUD / Monthly

**Engagement type:** Independent Contractor Agreement

**Work Schedule:** This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 7 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

**Who The Client Is:** It is a civil construction business focused on delivering essential infrastructure works across urban and industrial environments. They specialise in practical, end-to-end delivery of civil projects such as Traffic Signal & Electrical Installations, Electronic Signage Installation, earthworks, road construction, drainage, and associated site works. They operate in highly regulated settings where safety, compliance, and coordination are critical, and they are known for taking a hands-on approach to getting projects delivered efficiently and to specification.

**Role Overview:** We’re looking for a Civil Engineer based in the Philippines to work remotely, taking ownership of our estimating function while supporting the commercial delivery of civil infrastructure projects in New South Wales, Australia. This role is primarily focused on estimating, with the opportunity to grow into broader engineering responsibilities over time as you become familiar with our projects and processes, including interpreting drawings, understanding scope, and preparing accurate, well-structured cost estimates.

**Key Responsibilities:** 

Estimating & Tendering

-   Prepare cost estimates and tender submissions for civil construction projects
-   Conduct takeoffs from architectural and engineering drawings
-   Analyse risk and opportunity across project bids
-   Complete site investigations and pre-tender activities using available online resources
-   Participate in tender follow-up and award processes

Supplier & Subcontractor Management

-   Obtain quotations from subcontractors and suppliers
-   Liaise with subcontractors and assist with onboarding
-   Access and manage documentation across various client subcontractor portals

Market Intelligence & Compliance

-   Monitor industry trends and conduct market and cost benchmarking
-   Ensure estimates account for relevant safety and compliance requirements
-   Support handover documentation to delivery teams

AI & Systems Development (Bonus)

-   Opportunity to contribute to an internal AI-powered estimating tool currently in development
-   Help build and refine a system capable of reading drawings and pricing projects rapidly

## Requirements

-   Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in a similar role
-   Degree or background in Civil Engineering
-   Experience in cost estimating within civil or construction environments
-   Solid written and spoken English communication skills
-   Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings
-   Strong proficiency in Excel, with good working knowledge of Word and other standard office tools

**Preferred/Nice-to-Have:**

-   Exposure to Australian or other Western construction standards (training can be provided on specific requirements)
-   Familiarity with Transport for NSW specifications or similar road and civil authority documentation
-   Experience with estimating software; experience with Quotient is an advantage (training available)
-   Experience using Xero for project finance support is desirable
-   Interest in AI tools and openness to integrating them into day-to-day workflows
