## Description

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigeria Nationals for the position below at the Institute’s headquarter in Ibadan.  
  
**Position: Dental Surgery Technologist**

**Duration: 6 months’ renewable                                        Location: Ibadan**

**DUTIES**

-   Perform basic dental procedure within the ambit of Dental Surgery Technologist e.g. Scaling and polishing
-   Provide preventive dental care
-   Prepare the dental operatory and ensure all instruments and materials are ready before procedures.
-   Assist the dentist during dental procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
-   Provide support with dental imaging
-   Ensure effective infection control and sterilization of instruments in compliance with medical protocols.
-   Monitor patient comfort and well-being during treatment.
-   Educate patients on post-procedure care and oral hygiene practices.
-   Maintain patient records and ensure accurate charting.
-   Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow.
-   Maintain dental inventory and alert the supervisor about supplies that need to be
-   Ensure compliance with the facility’s safety, health, and ethical guidelines.

## Requirements

**QUALIFICATION**

HND in Dental Surgery Technology or HND in Dental Technician, with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience performing similar functions in a structured organization.

**COMPETENCIES**

The ideal candidate must have:

-   Good knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments.
-   Strong understanding of infection control practices and health & safety protocols.
-   Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
-   Organizational skills with attention to detail.
-   Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit professionalism.
