## Description

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian nationals for the position below at the Institute’s Headquarters in Ibadan.

**Position:        MEL Officer**

**Contract:**       **2-years renewable contract**                                            

**Location: Ibadan**

**Closing Date: 10 September 2026**

**DUTIES**

·       Support the implementation of the I-Youth 2.0 MEL framework and monitoring plan in Nigeria.

·       Track Program activities, outputs, outcomes and indicators against approved workplans and targets.

·       Maintain and regularly update Nigeria's indicator tracking tools and performance records.

·       Conduct routine monitoring visits to project locations to verify implementation progress and reported results.

·       Identify performance gaps and promptly escalate them to the M/E Manager and relevant Program teams.

·       Coordinate the timely collection and collation of Program data from field teams, implementing partners and other relevant stakeholders.

·       Review and validate submitted data to ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency and appropriate disaggregation.

·       Conduct routine data verification and quality checks and follow up on identified gaps or inconsistencies.

·       Ensure adequate supporting documentation and evidence are maintained for reported Program results.

·       Support field teams and partners in the correct application of approved data collection tools, indicator definitions and reporting procedures.

·       Maintain accurate and up-to-date Participant records and databases for I-Youth 2.0 activities in Nigeria.

·       Support the tracking of participants across training, enterprise development, employment and other Program pathways.

·       Support follow-up and tracer activities to monitor participant outcomes, including enterprise establishment and growth, employment, access to finance and market linkages.

·       Ensure Participant information is appropriately disaggregated in line with project and donor reporting requirements.

·       Support the implementation of baseline, midline, endline, tracer studies and other assessments coordinated by the M/E Manager.

·       Assist with field-level planning, data collection, supervision and quality assurance for surveys and assessments.

·       Support the training and supervision of enumerators and other data collectors where required.

·       Participate in field monitoring and verification exercises to assess implementation progress and validate reported results.

·       Maintain and regularly update Program databases, monitoring tools and other MEL records for Nigeria.

·       Support the use of approved digital data collection and management systems.

·       Analyze routine Program data and prepare summaries, tables and performance updates for Program review and decision-making.

·       Provide accurate and timely MEL inputs for monthly, quarterly, annual and donor reports.

·       Work with Program teams to ensure that reported achievements are supported by verifiable evidence and documentation.

·       Document implementation lessons, good practices, challenges and emerging results from Program activities in Nigeria.

·       Support Program review and reflection sessions by providing relevant performance data and evidence.

·       Provide routine MEL guidance and support to Program staff, field teams and implementing partners.

·       Perform other MEL-related duties as assigned by the M/E Manager

## Requirements

**QUALIFICATION**

Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Development Studies, Social Sciences or a related field. Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis and reporting. Previous experience in agriculture, youth employment, entrepreneurship, livelihoods or related development programs is highly desirable.

**COMPETENCIES:**

·       Experience supporting surveys, assessments, evaluations or tracer studies.

·       Good understanding of monitoring, evaluation and results-based management.

·       Strong data collection, management and analytical skills.

·       Good report-writing and documentation skills.

·       Proficiency in relevant data collection, analysis and visualization tools.

·       Strong organizational and coordination skills.

·       Ability to work effectively with program teams, field staff and implementing partners.

·       Good interpersonal and communication skills.

·       Commitment to safeguarding, gender equality and social inclusion.

·       Willingness to travel regularly to project implementation locations across Nigeria.
