## Description

The Application Architect is responsible for defining, assessing, and evolving the enterprise application architecture to ensure that the application landscape supports business capabilities, digital transformation priorities, integration needs, security requirements, and enterprise architecture standards. The role focuses on current-state application assessment, target-state design, application portfolio optimization, modernization, rationalization, interoperability, and alignment with enterprise technology direction.

## Requirements

· Develop and maintain the enterprise application architecture in alignment with business strategy and enterprise architecture direction.

· Assess the current application landscape, including business applications, platforms, interfaces, dependencies, lifecycle status, and functional coverage.

· Define target-state application architecture and transition roadmaps supporting business and digital transformation initiatives.

· Map applications to business capabilities, business services, processes, data domains, and technology platforms.

· Identify duplication, functional overlap, application gaps, technical debt, and rationalization opportunities across the application portfolio.

· Support application modernization, replacement, consolidation, retirement, and cloud migration initiatives.

· Define application architecture principles, standards, patterns, and reference architectures.

· Design application interaction models, application cooperation views, dependency maps, and integration touchpoints.

· Collaborate with solution, integration, data, cloud, infrastructure, and security architects to ensure coherent end-to-end architectures.

· Assess commercial-off-the-shelf, SaaS, custom-developed, and platform-based solutions from an architecture perspective.

· Evaluate application scalability, maintainability, interoperability, resilience, security, and alignment with enterprise standards.

· Support Application Portfolio Management and technology lifecycle management activities.

· Provide architecture guidance for APIs, microservices, modular applications, event-driven solutions, and modern application platforms.

· Participate in architecture governance, design reviews, and Architecture Review Boards.

· Support RFP development, vendor evaluation, technical assessments, and application selection processes.

· Identify application architecture risks, dependencies, constraints, and remediation actions.

· Work with business and technology stakeholders to ensure application architecture decisions are practical, traceable, and aligned with business needs.

Required Experience

· Minimum 8-10 years of experience in application development, software engineering, solution design, application architecture, or related disciplines.

· At least 4-5 years of hands-on experience in Application Architecture or a comparable senior architecture role.

· Demonstrated experience assessing and designing complex enterprise application landscapes.

· Experience with application modernization, rationalization, integration, cloud adoption, or digital transformation programs.

· Strong understanding of enterprise application patterns, APIs, services, integration approaches, and distributed application architectures.

· Experience working with senior business stakeholders, project teams, developers, vendors, and architecture governance bodies.

Preferred Qualifications & Certifications

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

· TOGAF certification is highly desirable.

· ArchiMate certification is desirable.

· Cloud architecture, software architecture, application development, or DevOps certifications are advantageous.
