## Description

**SUMMARY**

Provides administrative and operational support to the Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU) S/3 Section and its training operations program. The Operations Specialist assists with preparing and maintaining battalion training schedules, tracking mandatory training requirements, coordinating travel and unit events, preparing reports and presentation materials, and maintaining accountability for internal and external taskings.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

-   Support the SRU S/3 Section and battalion training operations program.
-   Coordinate with internal and external agencies, in accordance with prescribed guidance, to assist with preparing and publishing the battalion training schedule.
-   Track and update battalion mandatory training requirements, including physical training and weapons qualification requirements.
-   Prepare presentation slides and attend required Company and Battalion meetings and training.
-   Forward correspondence received from all organizational levels to Company leadership and Platoon and Squad Leaders.
-   Use the Defense Travel System to arrange official travel for authorized unit personnel, including flights and rental vehicles.
-   Collect data and prepare command-directed reports.
-   Assist with coordinating and scheduling VIP visits to the unit.
-   Assist with coordinating, supporting, and conducting unit Warrior events.
-   Receive and document internal and external taskings for accountability and action completion.
-   Operate Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and learn military computer programs required for the position.
-   Operate standard office equipment, including photocopiers, facsimile machines, multiline telephones, voice systems, pager systems, and mailing machines.
-   Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
-   Perform other duties as assigned.

## Requirements

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**

-   At least one year of experience designing, developing, and overseeing a training program.
-   Qualified typist with the ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
-   Experience using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
-   Familiarity operating military computer programs.
-   Experience operating standard office equipment, including photocopiers, facsimile machines, multiline telephones, voice systems, pager systems, and mailing machines.
-   Experience preparing and maintaining training schedules and tracking mandatory training requirements.
-   Experience using the Defense Travel System to arrange flights and rental vehicles for authorized official travel.
-   Ability to read, write, comprehend, and speak fluent English, and be computer literate.
-   Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks.

**WORK SCHEDULE**

40 hours per week. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**

Work is primarily performed in a professional office setting, including the normal office equipment (e.g., computer, fax machines, copier) and with a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities, and abilities.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**

Personnel must be able to stand on hard surfaces for extended period of time; bending, stooping, and working in sometimes uncomfortable positions. Personnel must be able to lift and carry items that weigh up to 20 pounds, and/or maneuvering, pushing or sliding items for proper positioning. Frequently uses hands/fingers for manipulation of keyboard and mouse.
