## Description

A privately held electrical and technology infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced **Director of Strategic Procurement** to lead purchasing, supplier strategy, and material planning across a rapidly expanding project portfolio.

The organisation provides electrical construction, structured cabling, security systems, controls, and specialty infrastructure services to customers within data centers, healthcare facilities, industrial environments, logistics operations, and large commercial developments.

Continued growth has increased the scale and complexity of the company's purchasing requirements. The Director of Strategic Procurement will be responsible for improving supplier relationships, reducing material risk, strengthening purchasing controls, and creating greater consistency across decentralized project teams.

This position will work closely with operations, estimating, project management, finance, and executive leadership. The successful candidate will combine strategic sourcing expertise with a practical understanding of construction project requirements and supply-chain constraints.

The role will oversee a small procurement team and will have responsibility for major supplier relationships across several categories.

### Responsibilities

-   Develop and execute procurement strategies across electrical, technology, and specialty construction categories
-   Lead, mentor, and develop procurement and purchasing professionals
-   Negotiate major supplier agreements and commercial terms
-   Establish preferred supplier programs and strategic vendor relationships
-   Improve material availability for active and upcoming projects
-   Identify supply-chain risks and develop mitigation strategies
-   Partner with estimating and preconstruction teams on material pricing and availability
-   Support project teams with procurement planning for complex or high-value projects
-   Improve purchasing controls, approval processes, and supplier governance
-   Analyse company-wide purchasing activity to identify savings opportunities
-   Establish procurement performance metrics and executive reporting
-   Monitor supplier performance, lead times, quality, service levels, and commercial terms
-   Develop strategies for critical electrical equipment and long-lead materials
-   Coordinate with finance on working-capital requirements and purchasing commitments
-   Support standardisation of equipment and materials where commercially appropriate
-   Evaluate supplier capacity for major project awards
-   Support acquired businesses with procurement integration and vendor consolidation
-   Maintain effective relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and subcontractors

## Requirements

-   Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, finance, construction management, engineering, or a related field
-   At least 8 years of progressive procurement, purchasing, or supply-chain experience
-   Previous leadership responsibility within procurement or strategic sourcing
-   Experience within construction, engineering, electrical distribution, manufacturing, industrial services, or infrastructure
-   Strong negotiation and supplier-management skills
-   Experience managing significant purchasing spend across multiple categories
-   Understanding of contracts, commercial terms, pricing structures, and supplier agreements
-   Ability to manage material shortages, long lead times, and changing project requirements
-   Strong analytical and cost-management capabilities
-   Experience developing procurement processes and purchasing controls
-   Strong communication skills and confidence working with senior operational leaders
-   Ability to balance cost, availability, quality, and project requirements
-   Strong organisational and decision-making skills
-   Ability to operate effectively in a growing and decentralized business

**Preferred Experience**

-   Experience within electrical contracting or specialty construction
-   Familiarity with electrical switchgear, transformers, cable, lighting, controls, or communications equipment
-   Experience sourcing materials for data-center or mission-critical projects
-   Familiarity with ERP, procurement, or construction-management systems
-   Experience with supplier consolidation following acquisitions
-   CPSM, CSCP, or another relevant procurement or supply-chain qualification
