**About the role**

Our client is a well-capitalized early-stage venture developing a premium West Coast point-to-point carrier focused on connecting California metros to mountain resort and entertainment-driven destinations. Backed by a coalition of West Coast hospitality and technology investors, the company is building an operation engineered for reliability, sustainability, and an elevated guest experience. The role provides an opportunity to lead the company's regulatory, safety, and ethics programs through certification and into operations.

This role calls for a compliance professional who combines technical aviation regulatory depth with the diplomatic skill to engage federal and state agencies while building internal frameworks from a clean slate.

### Key Responsibilities

-   Lead the company's compliance posture across FAA, DOT, TSA, FCC, and applicable state regulatory bodies
-   Serve as a primary point of contact for FAA Principal Operations Inspector (POI), Principal Maintenance Inspector (PMI), and other certificate management personnel
-   Build and maintain compliance manuals, including the General Operations Manual (GOM), General Maintenance Manual (GMM), and supporting documentation
-   Build and operate a robust Safety Management System (SMS) consistent with 14 CFR Part 5 requirements
-   Lead voluntary safety programs such as ASAP, FOQA, and LOSA where applicable, and coordinate internal audits and management of change processes
-   Develop the company's code of conduct, conflict of interest policy, whistleblower program, and anti-bribery and trade sanctions compliance
-   Oversee data privacy compliance, including CCPA and PCI-DSS, and build employee training programs on regulatory and ethical obligations
-   Coordinate response to regulatory inquiries, audits, and enforcement actions, and support board reporting on compliance posture

## Requirements

-   10+ years of compliance, regulatory affairs, or aviation safety experience, with significant time at a Part 121 or Part 135 air carrier
-   Deep working knowledge of FAA regulations, particularly Parts 5, 91, 119, 121, 135, and 145
-   Experience building or substantially upgrading SMS programs at an operating air carrier
-   Demonstrated success engaging FAA leadership in certification or oversight contexts
-   Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or aviation-specific certifications preferred

**Preferred Qualifications**

-   Direct participation in a Part 121 certification process
-   Aviation Safety Officer credentials or equivalent specialized training
-   Prior experience at a startup carrier or operator launching a new certificate
-   Background in luxury hospitality or premium service environments
