Any future hiring is subject to project approval, business requirements, updated role requirements, and Kickstart's staffing needs. **Role Synopsis:** The CG Animation Revisionist is responsible for revising and polishing existing CG animation to ensure shots meet the creative, technical, continuity, and delivery requirements of the production. Reporting to the Line Producer and Animation Supervisor, this role interprets and implements notes from the Director, Client, and Animation Supervisor; resolves shot-level animation issues efficiently; and preserves the established performance, style, and intent of each scene while delivering high-quality work within schedule. **Production Responsibilities:** - Revise existing CG animation based on direction and notes from the Director, Client, Animation Supervisor, and other designated creative leads - Bring assigned shots to the required level of completion and polish, with particular attention to performance, posing, timing, movement style, intent and technically sound files - Maintain consistency animation style, scale, and continuity across shots, sequences, and episodes - Work effectively within existing scenes, rigs, layouts, and cameras, quickly understanding another artist’s animation choices and preserving the original creative intent where appropriate - Identify and resolve shot-level creative and technical issues using efficient, production-appropriate solutions - Review assigned notes carefully, seek clarification when required, and ensure all requested revisions have been addressed before submitting work for review - Flag rig, asset, layout, camera, cache, or pipeline issues that cannot be resolved within animation to the Animation Supervisor and Production in a timely manner - Maintain accurate shot statuses, versions, notes, and other production information in Flow Production Tracking - Work closely with the Animation Supervisor, Director, and Production team to understand priorities, communicate progress, and identify concerns that may affect schedule or quality - Complete assigned revisions within established quotas, milestones, and deadlines while adapting to shifting production priorities - Participate in animation reviews, team meetings, and production-related discussions as required - Contribute original animation or support work on shots and sequences when requested to help meet production quality and schedule targets **Studio Responsibilities:** - Ensure all work adheres to pipeline requirements, naming conventions, and file management standards - Contribute to a positive team environment aligned with Kickstart’s core values - Interact respectfully and professionally with colleagues, partners, and clients - Additional duties as requested ## Requirements - Professional experience in CG character animation, animation revision, or a comparable production role; episodic animation experience is an asset - Strong demo reel demonstrating character performance, acting, posing, body mechanics, timing, lip-sync, and animation polish - Proficiency in Autodesk Maya and relevant animation tools - Strong understanding of animation principles, including timing, spacing, weight, balance, appeal, silhouette, arcs, and staging - Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to distinguish animation issues from rig, asset, layout, and pipeline concerns - Understanding of the CG animation pipeline and the impact animation revisions may have on downstream departments - Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with partner studios and distributed teams across multiple time zones, responding to feedback and communicating production information clearly. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate creative and technical feedback clearly and professionally - Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities - Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain quality standards in a fast-paced production environment - Working knowledge of Flow Production Tracking (fka Shotgrid) - Proficiency in Google Workspace (Mail, Calendar, Drive, Sheets, Docs) and Slack - Ability to maintain confidentiality - Strong attention to detail and commitment to artistic and technical excellence ## Benefits **Kickstart Entertainment** is a growing animation and production studio with locations in Vancouver, Los Angeles, Arkansas, Hong Kong, Suzhou, and Mumbai.
